Finally Got My Own HEA

Hey friends!

I know I missed a lot but I also follow some of you on social media so I may have missed your blog posts yet I'm still updated on other stuff like what you had for lunch, what your current craft project is, pictures of your pets, etc. So I don't feel totally guilty for being absent in this sphere as I'm an active spectator in some of y'all's personal lives. LOL

Anyway, the big day finally arrived and though it was hot and humid in Nashville, we still had a good time. So much so that the bar run out of liquor (we had an open bar), the dance floor was never empty, the ladies were dancing barefoot, and the dudes looked like they entered a wet t-shirt contest at the end of the night. In short, we threw an amazing hot and humid dance party & everyone appreciated the bottle of Gatorade and Advils we gave them as part of our favors.

Off to NOLA we went for our honeymoon and for the purpose of context, New Orleans is my NYC. As an immigrant who grew up dreaming of coming to the States, a lot of people like me dream of visiting New York, for some of us, The Big Apple IS America. I, on the other hand, always dreamed of going to The Big Easy thanks in part to Anne Rice and her vampires and witches. She romanticized the city for me since I was a teen so I campaigned hard for a NOLA honeymoon. It also helps that I just recently celebrated by 40th birthday so I have to work that in my favor too. I was over the moon when we saw Anne Rice's old stomping grounds, two of her old houses there, and Lestat's "tomb". Bucket list checked!

A lot of you have been there so I won't get into the details of where we went & ate. Overall, we had a blast there! On the day we're driving back home, we shared this look where we wish we could still order Bloody Marys at 10am while walking around the French Quarter. We also consumed a LOT of absinthe and though I didn't hallucinate and saw green fairies, I did have a lot of weird-ass dreams. We went to a vampire speakeasy, which is the coolest thing we've ever been too; went to the WWII Museum (must see!) where I was a ball of tears and feels by the time we left; went to the Pharmacy Museum (yet another cool place); and also visited a lot of tourist traps.

One of which is the Voodoo Museum. Guys, there's NOTHING there you won't see or find in another voodoo shop so save your $$ and keep moving. Also, we got a lot of our walking tours from Groupon, don't get the ghost tour from the Royal Tour Company. We had to quit the tour half way because we're bored out of our minds and the dude wasn't really telling us ghost stories nor was he telling it effectively.

In conclusion, my real life can take a backseat now because I am itching to go back to regular programming aka READ! I finished listening to Patricia Brigg's BURN BRIGHT two weeks ago but I think I need to reread/relisten to it because my mind was everywhere else and I don't know what the hell happened to Anna and Charles in this one.

All's well that ends well, fingers crossed I can blog more now.

I think NOLA is a top destination especially for us fantasy readers, it's been the location for one too many supernatural books.

Yes, be careful who you book your tours with even if it's just for fun otherwise you'll be wasting precious time on a boring 2-hour tour!
