If I Were in Tinder...

"Who dis, new number,"

That would probably your response to me if we were in Tinder. I didn't mean to ghost my own blog, wedding planning, a full social calendar, and time-consuming "etceteras" are maxing out all my available hours that all I want to do is shut up, shut down, and just read whenever I can finagle some time for myself.

I set my Goodreads Reading Challenge to 40 at the start of the year and surprisingly not only have I adjusted that goal, I'm also ahead. Below is a round-up of what I've read so far since my last post. I I kept it short as I'm sure you've read the same stuff or have seen it in the sphere.

What Kitty Did Next by Carrie Kablean - (DNF) Plot not moving fast enough for my taste, I got bored with all the socializing and benign activities Kitty Bennett did to land a husband.

Kill The Farm Boy by Delilah Dawson & Kevin Hearne - (saved for later) Lovely satire, I think I'll fare better with the audio version.

The Husband Hunters by Anne Courcy - (DNF) I love historical "gossip", I just can't get into the author's style. Too much flitting from one anecdote to the next.

Southern Eclectic Series by Molly Harper - (5 cauldrons) I should've read this series sooner! It gave me all the right feels, not overly dramatic or super sexed up, just a normal family/romance story that stole my heart.

Beyond A Darken Shore by Jessica Leake - (3 cauldrons) I love the myth and the plot as a whole. It was simply too YA for my taste in some places.

Prisoner of the Crown by Jeffe Kennedy - (4 cauldrons) I love the story albeit it felt like an overly long prologue. I'm just a little confused as to the genre, is this fantasy because there doesn't seem to be a supernatural element; historical but what time period and where. Wonderful fiction just the same.

The Angel Makers by Tessa Harris - (4 cauldrons) Didn't read the first but enjoyed it just the same. This one made me so mad! The plot is based on real-life events and it sent chills down my spine.

Court of Frost & Starlight by Sarah J Maas - (4 cauldrons) Wonderful ending to Rhys & Feyre's arc, fantastic beginning for the next set of plot lines featuring the other characters.

Let me Lie by Claire Mackintosh - (4 cauldrons) This is such a mind-fuck! The story took me for a spin, I easily got lost in the chilling narrative.

Paper Ghost by Julia Haeberlin - (3 cauldrons) This felt short in its claim that it's a suspense thriller and the cause-and-effect didn't make sense to me. On the upside, the book reads easy.

The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware - (4 cauldrons) What a bizarre story this is! It wasn't exactly what I expected it to be but obviously, I wasn't disappointed either. I'll never look at ravens the same way again.

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang - (4 cauldrons) Surprisingly, I was able to relate to this quirky romance in more ways than one. It's sexy, sweet, and very funny. Definitely a must-read if you haven't read this yet.

Guilt by Amanda Robson - (4 cauldrons) If you love thrillers and get a kick over exasperating characters and plot lines, then please read this! PS you'll need a stress ball.

Lying in Wait by Liz Nugent - (5 cauldrons) OMFG! This one made Norma Bates look normal!

Daring in a Blue Dress by Katie MacAlister -  (3 cauldrons) For pop culture fans of Meghan Markle & Prince Harry. This is a less glamorous, silly & comical, yet sexy and sweet love story.

Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult - (4 cauldrons) This one left me with a LOT of knowledge about elephants. Poignant almost memoir between a mother and daughter. Shocking ending.

The Sister by Louise Jensen - (3 cauldrons) Skimmed this a lot because the characters were abnormally annoying for a book of this genre. I know how it's going to end from the first quarter but I still read it for the entertainment factor.

The Chateau by Tiffany Reisz - (5 cauldrons) Can be read as standalone but I strongly suggest you read the entire series. You'll appreciate Kingsley, and this installment, a whole lot more.

The Party by Robyn Harding - (5 cauldrons) How well do you know your friends? Moreover, how loyal are you to them? If you can only read one book this month, let it be this.

Whew! I'll see you guys in the sphere and snoop around tp see what y'all have been up to.

    1. I guess I'm too anal about "fantasy" in that I expected the story to have some magic or that kind of element in it. Then again I may be wrong. Either way I enjoyed it very much!

  4. Loving the update! I listened to The Death of Mrs. Westaway, what a twisted little tale. Yes, Kill the Farm Boy is perfect for audio. I am behind on Harper's series but loved the first few. Not gonna lie, I loved The Kiss Quotient hard. Now to check out some of these titles you enjoyed that I have not read.

I have been in and out all summer with traveling, company and all that so I have fallen behind on my blog. I should have taken a blog break. I will be sure to schedule one next year.
