Steampunk Sundays: Romancing The Inventor by Gail Carriger

Series: Supernatural Society 1
Format: mobi
Release Date: November 1, 2016
Publisher: Gail Carriger
Source: Gift
Recommended By: Lee of Rally The Readers
Genre: Steampunk | Romance | F/F

Imogene Hale is a lowly parlourmaid with a soul-crushing secret. Seeking solace, she takes work at a local hive, only to fall desperately in love with the amazing lady inventor the vampires are keeping in the potting shed. Genevieve Lefoux is heartsick, lonely, and French. With culture, class, and the lady herself set against the match, can Imogene and her duster overcome all odds and win Genevieve's heart, or will the vampires suck both of them dry?

This is a stand-alone LBGTQ sweet romance set in Gail Carriger's Parasolverse, full of class prejudice, elusive equations, and paranormal creatures taking tea.

Delicate Sensibilities? This story contains women pleasing women and ladies who know what they want and pursue it, sometimes in exquisite detail.

Supernatural Society novellas can be read in any order.

The first in Gail Carriger's self-published novella series, The Supernatural Society, ROMANCING THE INVENTOR is sultry and bold while maintaining the same flirty and cleverness of her famed bestselling series, The Parasol Protectorate.

Set in the same world and timeline as The Parasol Protectorate, ROMANCING THE INVENTOR features the tenacious and androgynous inventor, Genevieve Lefoux. I'm so delighted that GCarriger wrote an F/F love story and giving our dear Genevieve another shot at true love after getting her heart broken.

As for Imogen Hale, she fits the world of strong and unique female characters of this world. She's very observant, cautious, decisive, and a math genius to boot! The perfect consort to Genevieve.

Don't be fooled by the sexy cover art, true to style, ROMANCING THE INVENTOR isn't steamy, rather it's full of innuendos and filed with (nerdy) sexual tension between Imogen and Genevieve. The Maccons also made some appearances and supernatural politics is the secondary driver to this novella.

Big thanks to my Lee of Rally The Readers, for this gift!

    1. You don't have to read the series in order. It all begins in Parasol Protectorate and it's totally independent from Finishing School

  8. Yay- so glad you loved it! ♥ I know you weren't crazy about Prudence, and I struggled at times to get through it, too, but I really recommend the sequel, Imprudence. It recaptures all the fun of the original PP books.
