Currently Listening To: Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink #podcast

I just recently discovered Joseph Fink's serialized podcast WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE last week. As of writing, I'm listening to episode 22 of 97, each podcast is about 25 minutes long on average and a new one is released every two weeks.

WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE launched in 2012 and it's essentially a radio broadcast. The episodes are narrated/voiced by Cecil Baldwin, who's doing a tremendous job btw. The serial is a dark fantasy of sorts set in some desert town somewhere in the Southwest area of the US. My guess it maybe it's a reimagined Area 51? Lots of fantastical shenanigans are happening from the supernatural to science-fiction. Every episode is a rundown of announcements, what's happening in Night Vale, advertisements, town gossip and the like. It's strange, very entertaining, smart, and ridiculously funny. But like all things humorous, the comedy might not be for everyone, it can be dark, dry, and quite snarky.

I'm loving the podcast, it has a humorous urban fantasy vibe to it and there's some level of consistency in the vignettes. As each episode gets curioser and curioser, I also find myself getting more and more invested in the townsfolk and Night Vale in general.

Here's a sample in case you're curious, and if you have any more podcast recommendations for me that's similar to this, please leave a comment below, I'd love to check it out.
