Genre: Paranormal Romance

Down, Boy
Anna Moder has just witnessed a shooting, seen her car pulverized, and rescued a wounded stranger only to discover he's really a werewolf. And by her recent standards, things are actually looking up. Lycanthropes don't faze Anna. Doctoring a wolf pack outside Grundy, Alaska, is the closest thing to home life she's known in years. But hitching a ride to Anchorage with long-absent pack member Caleb Graham that&'s a risk. Part of her itches to whack his nose with a newspaper. The rest is trying unsuccessfully to keep her own paws off every delicious inch of him.

The problem is, Caleb employs his lupine tracking abilities as a not quite- legal bounty hunter, and Anna is suspicious of both him and his profession. On the run from her past, with old problems closing in, she'd like to stay far, far away from anybody with connections to the law. Caleb, however, seems determined to keep her close. Are his intentions noble, or is he working a more predatory angle?

Anna's been dreaming of returning to a semi-normal life, but now she's experiencing a strange new urge . . . to join Caleb in running with the wolves.

I'm a Molly Harper fan. If I need a quick read or in need of a good laugh, I can always trust on her to provide an entertaining escape. MHarper writes these humor-filled carefully plots casted by silly yet clever characters.

HOW TO RUN WITH A NAKED WEREWOLF is the third Naked Werewolf installment and the first book I've read in the series. I have to underscore that for this, and it's cousin series set in Kentucky, Half-Moon Hollow, you can read the books out of order or standalone. Picking up the entire series is recommended of course, but I find it comforting that I'm not obligated to catch up big time so I can indulge in some good MHarper book.

Back to HOW TO RUN WITH A NAKED WEREWOLF, this is the most "serious" MHarper story I've read so far. It's dark what with Anna Moder running away from her abusive husband before teaming with werewolf bounty hunter, Caleb Graham. Anna and Caleb have the cutest start to their romance. Caleb is so playful and simply adorable while Anna is this snarky jumpy little thing. Things didn't get romantic right away despite their banter and attraction for each other. It took a lot of warming up on Anna's side to finally let herself go and allow Caleb to win her over.

I have to admit, the darker undertones threw me off, it's unlike any other MHarper I've ever read. It took a bit of adjustment on my end to get into the story because I kept waiting for something hilariously asinine to happen. Also, I wish Anna went all Ronda Rousey on her ex and beat him up proper, it's such a small price to pay compared to the damage he's done to Anna. That said, even with the absence of strong comedy and serious gore, I still had a great time with HOW TO RUN WITH A NAKED WEREWOLF, Anna and Caleb's is a sweet and salty paranormal romance. Definitely something I apparently need in my Rolodex as it's been ages since I've read some solid PNR.

  1. This is the series I want to read the most by Harper. Interesting about the darker undertones. I like that, but would really look forward to the humor.

  2. I haven't read much in this series yet, but you're right - humor and werewolves make for a very good mix :)

  7. I read this whole series, and this was my least favorite of the three because, like you said, it is more serious. I wanted the cute and funny. Plus, I don't like the cover, I liked the other covers in the series better.

  9. I'm glad to know these can be read out of order. I didn't realize that and have been sitting on book two until I had the chance to read book one. Oh boy, sounds like that girl has a bad ex problem, but at least she has someone yummy to replace him.

  11. Glad to hear you liked this one, even with it being a bit more serious than we're used to with Harper. I still need to read all of Harper's books but she's a fave for sure.

  16. I've only read one book from MHarper but I enjoyed her humor as well. I'm glad you were able to enjoy this one despite its more serious tone. I do like that Anna and Caleb's romance took the long route - given what Anna had experienced, that seems realistic. I'm also happy to know I can read this series out of order. I've always wanted to read this one in particular because I thought the title was so cute! ;)

  18. I love Molly Harper. Her books totally have me giggle-snorting. I've read all of them but this one and the Witches Handbook of Kisses and Curses.

Have you listened to any of them on audio? Amanda Ronconi does a brilliant job capturing the snarky goodness of Molly's characters.

  21. I just started relistening to this series. I don't remember this one being dark, but it has been many years since I listened to it the first time. I plan to relisten to the entire series and do a series review (since I didn't review the first time). I hope you pick up the other two in this series, because they are so much fun.

  25. I've read the first book in this series and I can remember how much fun it was! I have the second book I think, but not read it yet. I'll have to continue this series eventually. It does sound like the whole series is as good as the first book. Too bad this one's a bit darker than her usual books, but I am glad it was a good read.
