Gush & Gripe: The Time I Skipped My 5th

Hi Folks!

I'd like to first, thank ALL of you for the unbelievable blog love and support. I can't believe Talk Supe is 5 already and it's evolved so much and went through a lot of tweaking before the things got here. If you're a close follower, you'd see the "moods" of the blog. Currently, Talk Supe is more laid back, more like a book diary than an active participant in the book industry.

I know this boring to some, but it's serving it's purpose (as far as I'm concerned anyway) at the moment. I know it's a "tale as old as time", but like most bloggers, Talk Supe started because of love for books and a venue to just Gush & Gripe. Then things became exciting, hooked up with authors and tour companies and Talk Supe got in the game. Then it peaked when all the arcs came rolling in, keeping up with release dates got stressful but still exciting. Blogging may be a hobby, but there's also a competitive edge to it and you want to be ahead of the curve.

But as amazing as all that is, it eroded the enjoyment I got out of reading. So I slowly pulled back and did my best to get back to the enjoyment part. And that's what's been happening in the last two years hence my decision of skipping a big blog bonanza on Talk Supe's 5th.

Blogiversaries are ways for us to express gratitude by offering giveaways and virtually inviting people over to celebrate. This year, I decided to celebrate myself for a change and just read what I wanted to, posted when I felt like it and stayed relatively quiet last month.

That said, I hope you believe me when I say I am beyond GRATEFUL and HONORED to have come this far. To all the authors, publishers, tour organizers, my awesome followers, and my fellow blogger rockstars, MUCHOS GRACIAS! SALAMAT! THANK YOU for allowing me to be part of this sphere and for inspiring me to keep doing what I like to do just because I like it.

  1. It's awesome to see that you're 5! It's when I realise that it's the same for me and I didn't realize that. I understand what you mean about the blog. It's getting complicated for me too.

    1. I don't want to sweat it anymore. Maybe when things are more settled on my end, I'll get a stream of inspiration to reinvent Talk Supe. But 5 years of babbling with you guys is so fulfilling, I can't ask for more.

I hope you do too, there's been some draw backs but I always find my way back. I sure have evolved in more ways than one because of this blog.

I hope you never lose inspiration, Lekeisha!

  3. Great job on five years. I'm all about just having fun and reading what I want. Since I mostly do audiobooks, I don't get as many arcs as some other bloggers. I think that makes it a little less stressful for me. A big haul is five books. Anyway, congrats and I hope you continue to have fun and enjoy your next five plus years.

  4. A celebration is just as impactive when done quietly and I like that you've gone where you want to go with things. That's the important part of blogging. Congrats!

    1. I agree too. There are days when I wish Talk Supe is cooler, lol, but this has to do for now. I'm otherwise preoccupied with real life.

  10. I'm the same. It's much easier to be laid back these days. I'm on year 8 for my blog and this is the first year that I've actually *really* cut back quite a lot and don't post every day anymore. Happy 5 year blogiversary!

  13. Congratulations. I haven't even had my 1st yet, so I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm one of those people who never even tell people it's their birthday.

  15. Happy 5th. I skipped my blogversary last year too and will skip this year. My blog has also turned into a book diary of sorts since the reviews are short and they are for tracking (for me) LOL :)

  20. Oh my goodness! Happy 5th, Braine and Talk Supe! I hear ya, my bookish friend. Gotta get back to the enjoyment of reading, which is what I've been trying to do as well. Cheers! :)

  21. Happy 5th, Braine! Funny how there is a small group of us who started the same year and who pretty much went through the same phases. Laid back is the way to go unless you can make money out of it as far as I'm concerned :))) Hugs and keep going the way you like it, I really enjoy your blog xxx
