In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever. Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.

That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancĂ©, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.

Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly? Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

Now tell me you're not drawn to read Taylor Jenkins Reid's ONE TRUE LOVES

Curious to see how this mess is going to untangle itself.

The best part is TJReid totally delivered on her promise that ONE TRUE LOVES is going to be one of your favorite reads this Summer. Oh the feels! It's all about the feels without the excessive angst and dramatic confrontations you'd expect to find in a book with this premise. The funny part is the romance is a love triangle! I never thought I'd adore ONE TRUE LOVES as much this considering I hate love geometries, but it worked! It's all heart and soul and it's so heartbreakingly good my chest hurt!

ONE TRUE LOVES is far from black and white. Going in, I think I knew what I'm going to do if I were caught in Emma's situation. Not! Now I think I'm one of the worst romance readers out there because I tend to THINK and rationalize things versus allowing myself to suspend disbelief and go with the flow. TJReid totally yanked me from my safe, barricaded, unfeeling, head space and filled it with love, hurt, longing, hopeful and more love. Emma, Jesse, and Sam melted my cold cold heart and had me swooning from start to finish.

And should you end up reading this, I'm sure Emma will get a strong response from you and you're sure to have a book hangover after reading Emma's love life. That said, there's nothing Emma did here that I won't do myself. Every step, though some might be controversial, is necessary for her to figure out which way is up. It's also worth saying that ONE TRUE LOVES is very relationship driven. It actually reminded me of Tracey Garvis-Graves' On The Island in it's very human, raw, sweet, romantic, and utterly gut-wrenching honesty.

  12. I've read a few love triangles that have worked... in fact I just read one. They are rare and glad to see it works here. Hm... I do think you have me very curious about Emma and what she does in this book! :)

  14. This kind of story can go both ways for me... On the one hand, Jesse coming back years later would make me happy and emotional - on the other, those kinds of stories also piss me off! Yeah, because in real life, when people are said to be dead, they are... Even the ones we want to come back, and so, it can be hard to read about a true love coming back virtually from the grave.
And at the same time, your review so much makes me want to read this, Braine!

  16. Sounds like an interesting situation and set-up for a love triangle. And it makes me curious what happened to Jesse. And I can enjoy angst and drama in a book when it's not just for the sake of it and it sounds like here there is a solid basis for the drama. And I like the sound of how character and relationship focused and driven this book is. Great review!
