Books & Crafts: November12 & Wonder Woman

Welcome to Books & Crafts, a craft circle composed of book bloggers, a sporadic meme where we share our other creative pursuits aside from reading and blogging.

Two things:
  1. My swing skirt project is on hold because I can't shirr the darn thing right!
  2. I was busy chasing paper last weekend so I failed to post a BB&B.

I was at this children's pageant last weekend selling my wares. It was a cool event, cute kids in their crisp and glittery gowns. I'm even more impressed with the parents, I don't think I have the patience and dedication to do something like this with my daughter (thank goodness I have a boy!).

The photos aren't all that clear, these are taken from my phone and the lighting isn't all that great. We were at the entrance so it was a cool spot as everyone who are there saw our stuff. The girls outfits on the corner of the top photo are my sister's, I shared the photos a few weeks ago on Talk Supe's FB page if you're interested.

This is also my new favorite!

I love Wonder Woman! I grew up watching Linda Carter lasso the bad guys and dodge bullets using her magic golden cuffs. I don't know if girls these days will ever appreciate her, but I'm hoping their parents will introduce them to this awesome Amazonian Princess who's strong, independent, capable, and definitely no damsel in distress.

  1. Great stuff. I'm not a crafty person. I like looking at other people's stuff. I love Wonder Woman. She was the only bright spot in the new Batman v Superman movie. I did watch her some from my younger years. I was a superhero cartoon junkie for many years. I'm loving that the Justice League is on Netflix. I've been watching it. It has a lot of Wonder Woman (and Hawkgirl).

  3. I love the hairbows and such. When my kiddos were young, I use to tole paint and make crafts like Angel ornaments and such to sell at fairs. It was a blast and I met some fun people.

  4. Love the Wonder Woman bows. I would hope parents would introduce their daughters (and sons!) to this awesome superhero. I'm glad the event went well though and you had a nice spot.

  8. Verra nice! You got a primo spot, it sounds like. Love those Wonder Woman bows. It would be interesting to see if kids get into her again since she's in the new movie. I loved that old show. One of the GI's working for my mom was a huge fan and he had several signed photos of Linda Carter as Wonder Woman. I used to think he was the coolest. ;)
I wonder if the old show is on Netflix...

  10. I LOVE them! The Wonder Women bows are awesome-sauce. And people watching at a pageant sounds rather fun. Maybe stressful though since I expect many were really stressed out and snappish.

  12. How awesome. I did a craft event like 10 years ago and I was so nervous. I'm a horrible sale person. I just sit back and smile and unless someone asked me a question or bought something, I left them alone.
BTW...I LOVE the WW bows. Those are super cute!

  14. OMG! I love those bows! I have a WW purse in mind, but it will be a while before I can tackle it. Have a few projects I have to complete first. :) Hope you did great at your event!

  15. I'm no good when it comes to crafts, but I love seeing yours, Braine! I hope you were able to sell some of your beautiful creations at the pageant.
Have a fantastic weekend and happy reading.

  16. This might seem silly but have you 'youtube'd shirring? I know when I have trouble with a knitting stitch, that's where I go for explanation. Of course, sewing is a completely different animal. I could never get 'gathering' right. :/ I love the Wonder Woman bows...I'd forgotten about her blocking bullets with her cuffs. *haha*

  20. Those bows are adorable. I would not have the patience for a child's pageant either. Is there a way for me to change my link in the linky above so it goes to my crafts post?
