Books & Crafts: A #BookBlogger #CraftCircle feat. November12 - Swing Skirts!

Welcome to Books & Crafts, a craft circle composed of book bloggers, a sporadic meme where we share our other creative pursuits aside from reading and blogging.

Spring is just around the corner and I am a little excited to start wearing flowy clothes again. Lately, I've been enamored with swing skirts

and so I took a trip to Jo-anns and got some fabric. I want mine to be a little whimsical so I picked some Disney themed cotton, if you look closely the one on the left features the classic princesses and the one on the right features the villains like Maleficent, Evil Stepmother, and Cruella.

This is a personal project and I'm a little nervous because I haven't sewn clothes and I really want this to be a success. Wish me luck!

    1. Yes and it creates an illusion of a tiny waist even if mine is packed with love [handles]. I need all the help that I can get, Sophia!

  6. Can't wait to see how your skirts look. I bought a swing skirt years ago. I never wore it. I guess it's just 1) not my style and 2) I don't have the slightest idea what to wear with it. I really just need to donate it to the local thrift store or something.

    1. I wish I tried to learn it sooner because I love clothes and it would be nice to have stuff tailored to my body.

  9. Congrats on trying something new. I don't think I could do it. I can't even sew a button back on, it always falls back off again before the end of the first day I wear it. I can swe my dogs toys back together again, but the toys look like Frankenstein's monster. LOL. I hope you'll share pictures of your work. Good luck.

    1. I try, I've tried a few things like baking and I'm just not good at it. Maybe sewing clothes is my thing.

  10. Cute fabric! Best of luck - I hope your skirt turns out well. I made one when I was much younger, with a lot of help, but I'm really not good at sewing. haha

  13. I LOVE this style of skirt! I wear swing dresses pretty regularly. I have some pretty poofy ones and love them! So this skirt is right up my alley! Once you get the technique down I'd be all about buying one from you! I can't wait to hear how it goes!
