Bought, Borrowed, & Bagged [187]: Riverdale, Archie Comics Adaptation

BB&B (Bought, Borrowed and Bagged) is a weekly meme, inspired my The Story Siren and Pop Culture Junkie, where we share with you the books that we have bought, borrowed or bagged (won or gifted) plus a recap of the previous week's reviews, upcoming reviews, on going events and book movie or television news.

BB&B is an homage Barron's Books & Baubles from Karen Marie Moning's smash hit series, Fever.

Bought, Borrowed, & Bagged

I one clicked Bowen mostly because a lot of you reviewed this last week and it sounded so amazing! Love my book mail too, looking forward to all three books which also means that I have to binge read Pacat and Lauren soon!

Big & Small

Set in present day and based on the iconic Archie Comics characters, Riverdale is a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome fa├žade. - Read more here

I'm an Archie Comics fan. I remember my comic books being confiscated or my teacher writing letters to my parents because I wasn't paying attention in class and would instead read Archie. I'm psyched to hear that CW is adapting it. Although *side eye* I'm boh curious and nervous about the "darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath", does this mean that it's going to be angsty? Less silly more emo?

Bought, Borrowed & Bagged is a laid-back meme, please use your LABEL OR TAG LINKS and not your post links that way you don't have to update your linky every week.

    1. Right? I'm a bit nervous because it'll be on CW, a network notorious for its emo/angsty teen shows. Here's to hoping it won't be as dark

  3. Great haul, Braine! Archie comics were my favorite when I was younger, I even copied out the female characters to draw cool clothes for them :)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading! I hope you'll enjoy the Bowen books as much as those whose reviews made you one-click ;)

    1. They didn't air the cartoon show in my country, I saw it much much later when I've moved on to a different genre. I remember not liking Archie's voice though lol

  11. Very nice book haul, Braine. I look forward to seeing what you think of them all! :) And I had to laugh over you getting in trouble for reading Archie in class. My classroom reprimands were always due to my talking too much! ;)

    1. Haha I got that too! I remember I got an "award" for being Most Talkative in class in Kindergarten. Mortifying!

  12. I loved the Archie comics too. I didn't know about this but I hope it's not emo/angsty. I see how they could take it in that direction cause there really is a lot of relationship drama.
