Loved It: Wilde Card by Jenn Stark

Series: Immortal Vegas 2
Format: Mobi
Release Date: November 17, 2015
Publisher: Elewyn Publishing
Source: Publisher (Lily Element Blog hooked me up!)
Genre: Urban Fantasy

All that glitters may not be gold.

When an antique gold show comes to Vegas, magical-artifacts hunter Sara Wilde is on the job. She’s tasked with an illegal search and seizure of relics that could give their bearers the power to create or to destroy entire worlds of magic.

Talismans that may ignite a war.

Rumors of impending battle race like wildfire through the Connected community. Every psychic, were, warlock, and witch descends on Sin City to claim the relics first. Even the mighty Arcana Council is swelling its ranks, disrupting the careful plans of its leader, the darkly sensuous Magician. Sara’s complex heist becomes even trickier as the hard-edged, heart-stealing detective from her past is assigned to investigate, forcing her to confront the one man in Vegas she can’t bluff. Nothing goes quite as planned, and everything is up for grabs.

What a wilde sequel! I absolutely love WILDE CARD, the sequel to Jenn Stark's fantastic urban fantasy, Immortal Vegas. Seriously, this series needs to get super popular because it's all sorts of awesome from the heroine down to the myth.

In case you're unfamiliar, Sara Wilde is the heroine, she's a treasure hunter for hire and can see. Tarot cards being her medium. She's employed by the Arcana Council as in the Major Arcana of the deck, The Magician being her "boss" as well as her love interest. The main arc of the series is something or someone is going after the Connected, or gifted kids, and Sara with the help of the Arcana Council, is doing everything she can to stop the kidnapping and killings. Still unconvinced? The prequel novella is FREE so be sure to grab a copy.

On to WILDE CARD! The world, JStark created is still growing, new characters are introduced, a new myth is incorporated into this fantasy swirl, a dragon being the highlight, and we get more clue on who Sara Wilde is. Like most UF heroines, the underdog is slowly turning out to be the top dog so I'm curious to know how deep Sara's history goes and how far she's gonna go in this war she finds herself on.

Immortal Vegas is also filled with sexual tension. Like blue balls tense! The Magician aka Armaeus Bertrand and Sara have this thing going on between them, they always end up making out like crazy towards the end, but it always gets stumped! Frustrating, yet I am loving how JStark is pacing the books. Each novel is slowly peeling a layer off the mystery, the action is paced well, fast enough to be engaging, but not too fast where evertyhing becomes a blur. WILDE CARD didn't suffer from any sophomore slump, if anything it whet my appetite for more of Sara and this crazy world she's in. Seriously, get the novella, you'll be hooked.

  13. I am glad to hear you enjoyed this one so much! I have a few books that I've read that I wished would get more popular as they deserve it. It's lovely when a sequel adds more to the world and builds upon the basis set in the first book. I got the novella from kobo as it was free. It sounds like a good Uf series. Great review!
