Bought, Borrowed, & Bagged [176]

BB&B (Bought, Borrowed and Bagged) is a weekly meme, inspired my The Story Siren and Pop Culture Junkie, where we share with you the books that we have bought, borrowed or bagged (won or gifted) plus a recap of the previous week's reviews, upcoming reviews, on going events and book movie or television news.

BB&B is an homage Barron's Books & Baubles from Karen Marie Moning's smash hit series, Fever.

Bought, Borrowed, & Bagged

Big & Small

Sorry I haven't been around, our internet connection sucks big time these past couple of days. Pages would time-out, blogs won't come up fully. It was frustrating to say the least! I hope whatever was wrng was finally fixed.

Meanwhile, I'm glued to the news, following the Beirut and Paris attacks. It's getting so frustrating because all these attacks and deaths are senseless. Why kill the innocent? Whatever happened to summits, meetings, etc.? I have so many questions, strong opinions, and such anger. But Talk Supe isn't the right platform for it. Ultimately I hope we see change for the better soon. Morever, I hope peace isn't a myth, I'm praying that these atrocities would stop and that compassion and love, simple yet complex edicts universal in EVERY religion, would prevail in the end.

Recap

It's a new year and there's a new linky for my humble weekly recap meme. Whether you're a return participant or a new hopper, THANK YOU for joining, your participation is much appreciated.

Also as this is a laid-back meme, please use your LABEL OR TAG LINKS and not your post links that way you don't have to update your linky every week.

  1. Why are book covers all about the backs on characters now? Did you notice that? The Paris attacks are so horrible. I can't even believe the world right now.

    1. Ha! Good observation. Maybe they're riding the big bubble butt trend?

Yeah, I've been glued to the news. Riveting and scary shit

  2. The Paris Attacks deeply disturbed me as well. I just couldn't believe the horror that I saw unfolding on TV. You got some interesting books this week. My internet has been timing out as well at times.

  3. I can't understand the attacks; isn't life challenging without adding fear and hatred? What good comes from that?

I hope your internet is more cooperative this week and have a good week.

    1. I don't know. I do know that we worship the same God, we just call it different names. So I can't wrap my head around the whole thing.

It's doing much better, happy to blog hop

  4. The terrorists operating across the world these days are cowards! I hope that fear will not be the strongest feeling, but that love will make it hard for those who hate to continue spouting their hate.
Your new books look great, Braine, I hope you'll love them all.
And of course, I hope your internet connection will be working normally once more.
Have a beautiful week ahead and happy reading.

The attacks in Paris are devastating. My prayers go out to them. Brings back such shocking feelings of 9/11.

Hopefully we can find a good book to at least escape for a few hours.

  15. I am frustrated with the fact that the powerful nations of the world couldn't do anything with a small group of monsters terrorizing us day in and day out. But I get it. I get that the difference between them and the civilized world is that they don't care if they kill innocent people. We're basically being beaten at their game. Anyway. Horrible weekend. Horrible. Horrible.

  16. I had that internet issue this summer. Not cool! Hope yours is fixed.

I'm convinced that some folks have deep-sixed their consciences and withdrawn from the human race to do the deeds and atrocities they are doing around the globe. The zombies from the Walking Dead have more humanity in them.

    Anyhoo...
Your haul looks intriguing. I sadly lost my willpower and picked up six this week. Sales and freebies are my weakness.

    Have a good one, Braine!

  20. I haven't read any of these books Braine, looks like my shelves will be groaning again LOL
I'm praying for all of Paris and all the world for that matter. The trouble with these terrorists is that their thinking is so far off the Western way of thinking that I don't know that negotiations would even work. I do know that one of my favorite romance authors and friend Eloisa James not only has relatives in France but she and her family actually lived in Paris for a year. She even wrote a memoir about it called Paris in Love. Thank God she's in the states right now. But I do know so many people across the pond in other European countries and lets face it Europe is so small compared to the US no one anywhere is safe.

    1. Glad they're okay.

This is a religious war so the effect is felt in the world. I feel bad for the other law abiding, upstanding Muslims and other people who share the same nationality as these terrorists. They're discriminated against which breeds more hate, resentment, and eventually more grounds for terror attacks. It's a frustrating cycle.

  21. There is no sense to be made from the attacks, Braine. I have thought on it all weekend and I can't make sense of it - what are they trying to achieve? But I do know that the human spirit is resilient and have hope that love will prevail.

Nice haul, my dear. Here's to hoping this week brings something good! <3 <3
