Suped Up: Playing with Fire Kate Meader + Giveaway

Series: Hot in Chicago 2
Format: ARC
Release Date: September 29, 2015
Publisher: Pocket Books
Source: Publisher
Genre: Contemporary Romance

From popular romance author Kate Meader comes the second novel in Hot in Chicago, a brand-new, sizzling series that follows a group of firefighting foster siblings and their blazing hot love interests!

As the only female firefighter at Engine Co. 6, Alexandra Dempsey gets it from all sides: the male coworkers who think she can’t do the job, the wives and girlfriends who see her as a threat to their firefighter men, and her overprotective foster brothers who want to shelter their baby sister at all costs. So when she single-handedly saves the life of Eli Cooper, Chicago’s devastatingly handsome mayor, she assumes the respect she’s longed for will finally come her way. But it seems Mr. Mayor has other ideas…

Eli Cooper’s mayoral ratings are plummeting, his chances at reelection dead in the water. When a sexy, curvaceous firefighter gives him the kiss of life, she does more than bring him back to the land of the living—she also breathes vitality into his campaign. Riding the wave of their feel-good story might prop up Eli’s flagging political fortunes, but the sizzling attraction between them can go nowhere; he’s her boss, and there are rules that must be obeyed. But you know what they say about rules: they’re made to be broken.

Yasss!!! PLAYING WITH FIRE by Kate Meader is The Hot In Chicago installment that I've been dying to read, and it's so worth the wait! See, Alexandra Dempsey and Eli Cooper's hate-love relationship has been building up since Flirting with Fire. Tension has been brewing since, and it turned into this one big, delicious, blazing, explosive romance.

Somebody hose these two down! By "these two" I mean me.

It's impossible not to get swept away by the story. I love enemies-to-lovers trope, and Eli is the perfect antagonist in this situation. He was harping at the Dempseys in the beginning, was a total jerk, and borderline chauvanist. Eli made it easy for everyone to hate him and label him all sorts of things. Things took a slight turn in Melting Point when Eli lent a helping hand in Brady and Gage's imploding relationship. I was reluctant, yet I found myself liking Eli for that small gesture. Who knew he is a champoin for love? So this tidbit added to my excitement for PLAYING WITH FIRE

And OMG this romance is delicious to the core! I don't have enough adjectives and superlatives to describe how great this romance is. We have Alexandra Dempsey, a badass super chick, who was forced to be a damsel in distress when really she's a modern day Xena. How Eli managed to pin down Alex was an outrageous, but sweet tale, definitely worth reading and experiencing. Only Eli and his "machine" can pull off this Princess-like tale meaning Eli Cooper will do anything, everything, and will stop at nothing, to win Alex Dempsey. And I can't blame the dude because Alex is simply ravishing: rocked the curves of Marilyn monroe, the no-filter mouth of Chelsea Handler, and the spirit of Amelia Earhart. Need I say more?

So, hopeless romantics, believers of true love, addicts to swoontastic tales, please, pretty please with cherry on top, join the Kitty Meader bandwagon and start reading Hot In Chicago series! I promise you will not be disappointed.

And here's my Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts
(hosted by Unconventional Book Views) for the week:

"Is there anything you won't claim credit for?"
Eyeing her speculatively, he took a suip of his scotch, likely something expensive and triple-distilled from the tears of Scottish virgins. everything about him screamed privilege, from his monogrammed cuff links to his Wall Street suspenders.

Originally from Ireland, Kate cut her romance reader teeth on Maeve Binchy and Jilly Cooper novels, with some Mills & Boon thrown in for variety. Give her tales about brooding mill owners, oversexed equestrians, and men who can rock an apron or a fire hose, and she’s there. Now based in Chicago, she writes sexy contemporary romance with alpha heroes and strong heroines who can match their men quip for quip.

  18. That's sounds awesome how their relationship has been building in other books already, I like that when you meet the character of the next book in earlier books already and see their story develop before you really get their story. The enemies to lovers trope usually doesn't work for me, but it sounds like it fits this book. It sounds like a great romance!

    1. It fits because she didn't exaggerrate the antagonism between the two. They're just so stubborn!
