Bought, Borrowed, & Bagged [168]: #PointBreak

BB&B (Bought, Borrowed and Bagged) is a weekly meme, inspired my The Story Siren and Pop Culture Junkie, where we share with you the books that we have bought, borrowed or bagged (won or gifted) plus a recap of the previous week's reviews, upcoming reviews, on going events and book movie or television news.

BB&B is an homage Barron's Books & Baubles from Karen Marie Moning's smash hit series, Fever.

Switching it up this week :)

Big & Small

The young kids might not be able to answer this. But to the other who remembers the original POINT BREAK starring Keanu Reeves, what do you feel about this redo? I was hoping they'd left the original alone and just wrote a companion movie or something.

POINT BREAK hits theaters December 25, 2015.

Recap

It's a new year and there's a new linky for my humble weekly recap meme. Whether you're a return participant or a new hopper, THANK YOU for joining, your participation is much appreciated.

Also as this is a laid-back meme, please use your LABEL OR TAG LINKS and not your post links that way you don't have to update your linky every week.

  3. The Deathsniffer's Assistant is quite the title! I hope the book lives up to it.

    Happy reading!

    1. Hahaha. They're in a superhero fix right now...

  5. They seem obsessed with remaking films instead of doing something new-and most times they don't need to! Look at the remake of Fright Night as an example!

    1. That or superheroes. Even the quality of horror stories nowadays are not as good anymore.

  8. I have not seen the original Point Break. I am confused on the need to redo so many films though! I mean, original is good!! :)

  9. I grabbed The White Rabbit Chronicles as well, such a good deal.

  10. Patrick Swayze was amazing in that. And he and Keanu were amazing together. There cannot be a substitute... This blows :\

    1. Exactly! Why would you want to give the younger generation a new but bad memory when the original was so badass?!

  11. GAH- you got a signed copy of Queen of Shadows! Sweeeet! I'm reading that one next!

  12. I love signed copies of awesome books!!! I'm not sure how I feel about the Alice in Zombieland series. I read book one, but am struggling with book 2. Have a great week!!!

    1. I'm bent on finding a zombie series I'll like. So far the ones I've tried are duds, hopefully this one works.

  14. Nice purchases!

I prefer the original Point Break, personally. Remakes don't seem to catch the original tone that the group of actors and director got. I just watched it a few months ago.

    1. Yup. Why can't they just do a "sequel" even if it's decades after the first one. That's better and more original sounding than a remake

  15. I am looking forward to Mirror King- hope we both love it. Have a great upcoming week.

  16. I keep seeing Queen of Shadows tempting me, can't wait to see what you think of it.
I wish they'd left Point Break alone too. I'm not sure I'll be able to watch this remake as someone said earlier, it doesn't seem to have the original tone. It seems like Hollywood is running out of ideas.

    1. I'm definitely skipping it. PB that is.

QoS is good so far, I think it'll be a late night

  17. A signed Sarah Maas - wow! As for film and TV remakes, there are too many of them. Sometimes they're OK, occasionally they're as good or better than the original (Battlestar Galactica *cough cough*). But often, they're really disappointing.

  18. I considered getting the Showalter boxset...hmm. And I'm dying to read Maas' books. I've been reading so many great reviews. :) As for the Point Break remake, I say Really?!? Seriously. Really?? Can Hollywood not come up with anything original these days? I liked the original (although I can admit *why* I liked it and it wasn't the stellar acting ;) Hmph!

  20. As a person of a a certain age I do remember watching Point Break many times on VHS during my summer holidays, me and my cousin lusted after Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze - Until I see it I will reserve judgement!

  21. I didn't know they redid Point Break. Interesting. It looks good. It has been too damn long for me to remember a lot of specifics from the original, so it'll be somewhat new to me. lol.

    1. I'm with you, but I do remember loving Reeves and Swayze together. I don't think anybody can recreate that chemistry

  22. It's been a while since I've seen Breaking Point. But I'm tired of remaking the same movies over and over. I wish they'd come out with new stuff. But I guess that's why they've turned to books for movies now too. *sigh*

  23. I still need to start the White Rabbit Chronicles, I have the first two books.
    Have a great week!

  24. QUEEN OF SHADOWS! QUEEN OF SHADOWS! QUEEN OF SHADOWS!

Yeah I feel like this is totally worth chanting, please message me when you're reading it!! My flat mate still has 100 pages to read, the 3 girls I was reading this series with on tumblr are all waiting to pick this book up, and someone needs to talk to me about it okay? :)

  25. I seriously need to start THRONE OF GLASS at some point. It sounds AMAZING. I read ALICE IN ZOMBIELAND but never continued the series because I thought it was pretty okay (it didn’t really stick with me). AND I have all three of the HarperCollins titles you have as well. Can’t wait to read them! Have a great week and happy reading :D
