Loved It: Energized by Mary Behre

Series: Tidewater 3
Format: Paperback
Release Date: August 4, 2015
Publisher: Berkley
Source: Publisher
Genre: Sci-Fi Fantasy | Romance

She’s searching for a sign...

Hannah Halloran has always believed in her gift. The things she sees through her psychic touch have never led her wrong before. Not when they led her to an unforgettable night with a sexy Marine at a bar. Not when she felt a need to leave her home and find the sisters she barely knows. And not now, when she is an unwilling witness to a brutal murder...

He’s ready to show her...

All Niall Graham wants is some peace. He’s recovering from the horrors of war, struggling to save his family’s restaurant, and desperate to forget Hannah, the beautiful woman who left him with memories of a mind-blowing night together and a bogus phone number. But a quiet life is hard to manage—especially when Hannah strides back into his restaurant with the news that a serial killer is on the loose and lurking closer than anyone could have guessed.

Mary Behre's Tidewater series is one of those gems that more people should try, read, follow, and fangirl over. It carefully and successfully stradles multiple romance genres: paranormal, contemporary, suspense, sci-fi; and you get a wonderful sampler much like those awesome box of fancy candies. It's so juicy I'm surprised this series isn't as popular as it should be.

ENERGIZED ends the Scott-sisters arc as the long lost siblings are now finally reunited in Tidewater, VA. I am hoping though that this isn't the end of Tidewater because MBehre and her quirky psychics still has so much to offer! We've had someone who can talk to ghosts, animals, can see people's auras, and now Hannah has psychometry. I mean I've heard of these super powers, but there's still a lot of creative adventures MBehre can give us. Like maybe someone with telekinesis, or someone who'll go Carrie and light the whole town of Tidewater on fire! Or maybe a super villain that will put the Scott sisters' powers to the test?

Anyway, back to ENERGIZED. Tidewater 3's tone is more serious than its predecessors. It still has it's light and funny moments, but it's more emotional and tense than Spirited and Grounded. It has a lot of family drama that touched and broke my heart. Add this serial killer mystery, the perp closer to the group than they thought, and you have a packed installment (series ender?) that fans shouldn't dare miss!

I had the pleasure of chatting with Mary Behre about ENERGIZED and the fate of Tidewater. Head on over to Romance at Random today to get the scoop!

    1. The books have different levels in terms of humor. This is the most serious of the 3.5. The first one was a hoot!

    1. Yes. The overarching arc about the sisters isn't all encompassing but it helps if you've been there from the beginning.

  22. I've heard so many good things about this series, I really should give it a try soon. I have the first book on my to-read list, but haven't gotten a copy yet.
I really like the sound of the mystery and paranormal combination. I've heard of those powers you mentioned before, but they sure seem to be a bit more rarer than what you usually see in this genre, so that sounds interesting. Great Review!

    1. The first book is more paranormal as it has ghosts. The succeeding ones are more "sci-fi" as it's more about psychic powers and all that, no supernatural stuff going on.
