Bought, Borrwed, & Bagged [156]: The Crown @netflix

BB&B (Bought, Borrowed and Bagged) is a weekly meme, inspired my The Story Siren and Pop Culture Junkie, where we share with you the books that we have bought, borrowed or bagged (won or gifted) plus a recap of the previous week's reviews, upcoming reviews, on going events and book movie or television news.

BB&B is an homage Barron's Books & Baubles from Karen Marie Moning's smash hit series, Fever.

Big & Small

I must say, Netflix is giving the TV and cable giants a run for their billions, what with all their original, and mostly hit, series. Joining the ranks is THE CROWN, set to premier in 2016 with ten episodes. The show aimed to tell the gripping, decades-spanning inside story of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Prime Ministers who shaped Britain’s post-war destiny. THE CROWN tells the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world – Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street – and the intrigues, love lives and machinations behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. Two houses, two courts, one Crown. - Coming Soon

THE CROWN's initial cast includes Clair Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, Matt Smith as Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh, and John Lithgow as Winston Churchill. I love historical series like this and I am hoping THE CROWN will be as good as Marco Polo in that Netflix won't spare any expense to bring the story to life with much authenticity.

Recap

It's a new year and there's a new linky for my humble weekly recap meme. Whether you're a return participant or a new hopper, THANK YOU for joining, your participation is much appreciated.

Also as this is a laid-back meme, please use your LABEL OR TAG LINKS and not your post links that way you don't have to update your linky every week.

  1. I'm so glad that you like the books and swag. On the back of that poster, there is a map of the Kingdom. So I hoped you look liked it. I didn't know that Netflix was going to do a series about the British Monarchy. Interesting. I'll be looking forward to that.

I tweeted this but I'm not sure if you saw (or care - lol) but Netflix will have a How to Train Your Dragon series. I love that movie so I was excited to hear that.

    1. Sorry if I missed it. I've been sick and I'm rarely on the twitter stream anyway. I just check tweets sent to me lol. So boring right?

  13. Netflix is seriously giving everyone else a run for their money. I hear if they ever put ads it will only at the beginning and ending of shows/movies and it'll be Netflix ads. This is from my brother so don't quote me. I hadn't heard of The Crown until now. Not usually my thing, but I can always give it a shot especially since Matt's on there. Have you head A Series of Unfortunate Events is coming in 2016?

  17. The Midnight's Silence seems to be calling to me each time I see the cover. It sounds like a great read.

And seeing your Netflix talk, it reminded me I need to get back to DareDevil. We've been so busy the last several weekends we haven't finished the series.

I did get to watch Charlie St. Cloud with the kiddo over the weekend and really enjoyed it. Then when I was waiting for my husband to watch our rented movie I started watching Gone Girl and got into that. Was a bit strange, but good. lol.

    Have a great week!
