Bought, Borrowed & Bagged [155]: The Martian

BB&B (Bought, Borrowed and Bagged) is a weekly meme, inspired my The Story Siren and Pop Culture Junkie, where we share with you the books that we have bought, borrowed or bagged (won or gifted) plus a recap of the previous week's reviews, upcoming reviews, on going events and book movie or television news.

BB&B is an homage Barron's Books & Baubles from Karen Marie Moning's smash hit series, Fever.

Big & Small

I so happy that I don't have to wait long to experience THE MARTIAN. Everyone's mad gushing over the bestselling novel and as sci-fi isn't my favorite genre, I'll patiently wait for the movie instead and it looks like it's not going to be a long one. 20th Century Fox moved up the release date from the original November 25 to October 2, 2015.

Based on a best-selling novel, The Martian features a star-studded cast that also includes Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty), Kristen Wiig (Welcome to Me, The Skeleton Twins), Kate Mara (“House of Cards,” Fantastic Four), Michael Pena (Fury, End of Watch), Jeff Daniels (“The Newsroom,” Dumb and Dumber To), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Children of Men) and Donald Glover (“Community,” Mystery Team).

Recap

It's a new year and there's a new linky for my humble weekly recap meme. Whether you're a return participant or a new hopper, THANK YOU for joining, your participation is much appreciated.

Also as this is a laid-back meme, please use your LABEL OR TAG LINKS and not your post links that way you don't have to update your linky every week.

  1. If the Martian is ANYTHING like the book, with both the sarcasm & humor and suspense, it will be amazing!

    1. I hope it is! Although I won't be in the position to compare the book and movie as I will be skipping the former.

  3. I almost bought the book yesterday but decided against it. I've been bouncing around it for months now, and I'm afraid that I'll be one of the few who doesn't like Martian. Maybe I'll take a chance.

Velvet Undercover looks really good, too, and so does Angel Lover.

  6. I read the Martian and absolutely loved it ! I watched the trailer but I'm not certain the movie possesses the distinct humor that was one of the novel's best assets...

  7. I listened to The Martian on audio and loved it. It isn't much my genre either. I never would've picked it up if it wasn't so highly recommended by bloggers I trust. I didn't realize they moved the date up. Good to know. Thanks. :-)

    1. Let's move to Mars, Ramona, longer days and maybe we won't need sleep when we're there. And we might even get lucky enough to end up with our own Matt Damon aka Jason Bourne!
