I got shorties for you today. Some quick reads to make your legs cross or give you sweet dreams :)

Starry Eyed | The Becca Kingsley Diaries 1 | Alexia Russel
Serial | Contemporary Romance | March 4, 2015 | Self-Published
Goodreads | Amazon
I imagine this is how those famous actors hook up with a lesser known actress while they're filming an indie movie. Such is the case with Becca Kinsgley and Mason Riley. I think this is a serial as the story is only 31 pages. I finished it on my lunch break. But don't be deterred by its shortness. Sure these two hooked up fast BUT Alexia Russel wrote a good precedent indicating that there's some chemistry going on between the two prior to STARRY EYED. You can say this is where things came to a head where Mason finally saw Becca and now she's pseudo moving in with him back in LA.
I like how the short is written, it's very personal, intimate and very sexy. Becca Kingsley is a great narrator. I'm usually unsatisfied with stories this short, that's not the case here though. I'm curious to see if this is going to be a short-lived romance or if there's more to Mason than his playboy reputation and if he is indeed very smitten by Becca or if she's just another notch on his bedpost.

Enticed | Halloway Pack 4.7 | J.A. Belfield
Novella | Paranormal Romance | April 16, 2015
Goodreads | FREEBIE: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo
I haven't read nor am I familiar with J.A. Belfield's Halloway Pack series, but when she wrote to me about this novella Ms. Belfield assured me that it can be read as standalone. I was skeptical about the standalone thing because I've read books where the authors assured me I can skip the first books only to feel totally lost. Despite my skepticism, I agreed just the same because I'm always on the look out for new authors to try and fresh series to read. It also helps that Keri Lake is endorsing this series and was even blurbed on the cover. I do love Keri and if she's giving ENTICED her stamp of approval, then I'm game.
ENTICED is simply a shortie about birthday sex. Ethan is one lucky dude because Shelley really prepped for his birthday gift. Cake, sexy lingerie, mind blowing sex, ready and waiting for him. 50 pages of coital bliss! Just so you know, you won't get anything about the Halloway Pack from this novella. No world building, no pack politics, just good 'ol sexin! Nobody even shifted or did anything non-human... unless sexual prowess and stamina is considered paranormal?

I usually stay away from serials, but if I like them enough, I wait until the compilation is complete. I think these two books served their purpose, though. Glad you loved them!
ReplyDeleteI used to dislike serials too. Then I discovered some good ones and I find them o be great in-between reads
DeleteLike Joy, I try and stay away from serials too but I do have some exceptions. Shorties are good when you want to read something before going to bed but don't want to end up staying up all night. I'll check these out Braine! :)
ReplyDeleteYup! They're good when one is on a slump. I'm the type of person who always has to read something. Anything. Shorties give gReat gratification on that dept
DeleteThey're both new to me I confess and they look nice as well. It's nice to have 2 good romance.
ReplyDeleteSummer always makes me crave romantic reads
DeleteThanks for bringing these to our attention, I'm a fan of serials :)
ReplyDeleteStarry Eyed will be a perfect fit for you then!
DeleteI love a good short story - I haven't read a serial yet though.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
I know you're in a slump, now is the best time for you to sample some
DeleteWell if you are going for short and sexy, this is the way to go, right?
ReplyDelete*thumbs up*
DeleteLol, coital bliss? Now there's the world's shortest blurb but packing quite a punch :) Both sound good, and your reviews are rocking my world as usual :D
ReplyDeleteHappy to rock you!! Muah!
DeleteI do not do serials
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable. It can be quite the tease
DeleteI have read the Holloway Pack novels and this novella and I think that what you mostly have more when you have read the novels is that you know who is who and their background of how Ethan and Shelley meet. So it's some extra background, but I agree it can be read as standalone.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to pick your brains about the world building then. I love werewolf series!
DeleteI enjoy a good novella now and then, especially during a slump, it helps me to get back into the swing of things :) Thanks for sharing, I'm checking out Enticed now!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Even when I'm on a slump I still want to read but I don't like to be encumbered by a full length novel.
DeleteI'm surprised, most of the time when they say it can be a standalone it can't. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh that upsets me when I do accept a review then it turns oh it CANT be read as such. Like you're the author, don't you know that?!
DeleteI've had my eye on the Holloway Pack series and I might even have a prequel on my Kindle.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the shorty stories really come through.
Tricky to work with because of the lengths. Only a few can pull it Off well... From what I've read so far that is
DeleteWhile I like short stories, I don't like serials.
ReplyDeleteI understand. Ive grown to like it though
DeleteI tend to stay away from serials unless they're already complete, then is when I start to binge read everything.
ReplyDeleteBut ah, coital bliss. Should be a daily requirement, not just on birthdays, if you ask me. ;D
Blessie @ Mischievous Reads
That's my M.O.! Lol
DeleteYup, sexy time errrday
Those 2 look very good, short or not - the Holloway series was already on my list. Thanks for sharing ;)
ReplyDeleteLet me know if Halloway is spectacular
DeleteI can't help it. 31 pages? That's pretty short. Happy you enjoyed it though.
ReplyDeleteThese are both new to me but now I'm intrigued to know more about the Halloway Pack series.
ReplyDeleteGreat reviews!
Glad these two shorts worked out for you! I rarely read them, and even then they're almost always part of a series that I'm already heavily invested in. But they are pretty handy for a quick lunchtime read!
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually a fan of shorts but sometimes they are nice for when I'm not finding much time for reading.
