For ninety-nine years, every man in the Dumont family has remained a perpetual bachelor. Residents of Cedar Bayou, Louisiana, whisper about a voodoo hex cast upon the family, sabotaging each man’s chance at marriage. In truth, the Dumont men have their own player personalities to blame, and Marc is no exception. As captain of his family’s riverboat, he’s broken hearts up and down the Mississippi. That is, until his high school crush strolls onboard...

Allie Mauvais rocks the boat when she fills in as pastry chef. She hasn’t seen Marc since senior year, when rumors flew that her great-great-grandmother was the one who cursed the Dumonts. After two weeks on the water, neither can deny the attraction that still burns between them. But to truly reach Marc’s heart, Allie must show him that the hex isn’t real, and it’ll take more than her mouthwatering sweets to prove it. Will Allie’s love be enough to finally make Marc hers?

Get on a magical, mystical riverboat ride on the Belle of the Bayou and experience the "Dumont Curse" first hand whilst witnessing the sweeping romance between Captain Marc Dumont and pastry chef/voodoo dabbler, Allie Mauvais, direct descendant of the infamous Juliette Mauvais, reported voodoo priestess on the same level as Marie Laveau.

Fantastic premise for a contemporary romance and for someone who loves everything supernatural and paranormal, MAKE YOU MINE is the perfect contemporary read for me. Curses, spells, enchantments, a heroine with mismatched eyes aboard her beau's boat where odd, crazy events and coincidences started happening from freak fires, hexed passengers, various malfunctions on the boat and other shenanigans which Marc's family conveniently blames on Allie and the Dumont Curse which Allie's grandmother, Juliette, allegedly cast over the Dumonts after their ancestor jilted her at the alter many years ago. For the most part, I too was convinced that there IS a curse, the coincidences were too convenient for it not to be but then again I'm a believer of shiznit like that, :D so it was all good and very believable for me. Suspended disbelief, CHECK!

MAKE YOU MINE is devoid of angst, it's just old school contemporary romance with a small-town feel to it and a dash of family drama to make it extra cray. Allie and Marc had something brief back in high school and obviously both still carried a torch for the other after all this time so their second try at romance is a given. There was no major push and pull as both were consenting adults who were keen on following their hearts and their body's desires. Things were easy and free flowing between the two which I enjoyed immensely because it felt so normal even with the curse lingering in the back of their minds. The conflict started when Marc had cold feet, can't commit to Allie and started blaming it on the curse. This led to quite an interesting turn of events which ended in a big HEA in Vegas.

And as this is a family series, the other Dumonts were just as interesting as Marc, MBeckett didn't skimp on introducing Marc's equally gorgeous half-brothers including his suave Pawpaw. I'm excited to read all of their books when it comes out. MBeckett also started knotting romantic possibilities with the other brothers and their love interests so we're warmed up for their respective tales when it comes out. I'm also hoping that Pawpaw, the Dumont granddaddy, gets his own HEA, the dude's still in tip top shape and I'm sure he's just as tenacious, if not worse, than his grandkids.

MAKE YOU MINE is a great and perfect summer romance read! I adored everything about this book and even if the magic is nothing but simple gris-gris and chatter, it sure made Allie and Marc's story extra spicy and provided quite the mystical entertainment. All of the characters are well conceptualized and MBeckett made it very easy for us to like each and every one of the characters and get invested in their lives and stories. If you haven't read Macy Becket before and are curious on Dumont Bachelors, I compare it with Lisa Kleypas and Jill Shalvis and other feel good, magical romances you've come across with.
"I'm an expert panty remover with years of dedicated experience. I can have them around your ankles, lickety-split" - Marc

"I think overtime he'll [Marc] sabotage his own happiness. Just like his daddy and his pawpaw. People learn what they live. The curse isn't readl, but it might as well be, because the Domonts keep perpetuating the cycle." - Allie
