Forgotten in Darkness
Scimitar Magi 2

January 3, 2014
After an unjustified two-century stint in purgatory, Scimitar Magus Dakar returns to the human realm, renewing his eons-old curse. Once again he must murder the woman he loves. To break the vicious cycle, he must kill her before she strikes her deathblow, something he's never done in the past.
Archaeology grad student, Shay McGinnis, suffers a near-death attack in pursuit of a piece of Scimitar Magi lore. But did the magnificent warrior who pinned her to the wall injure her or the daemon he fought? In her search for answers, she draws the attention of both an ancient evil sorcerer and the warrior Dakar. The attraction between her and Dakar is instant, and for Shay confusing. She wants to be with him, but intuition equates him with death. Not random death. Hers.
Will this be the lifetime they break the curse before they are murdered by an age old enemy or worse kill each other yet again?
ZOE FORWARD: I am so excited to be at Talk Supe today, celebrating the release of the second in my Scimitar Magi series, FORGOTTEN IN DARKNESS. You might’ve heard of magi, but not these kick-ass, alpha badboy warriors for the Egyptian gods. They’re a group of bonded, hard as nail, hotter than hell pseudo-immortals. Pseudo-immortal means the daemons they must fight sometimes win. Yet, they get reincarnated along with their soulmates. But most have no memory of their past lives when reincarned. So, each spends decades a bit out of control with their supernatural powers, not to mention they are not always thrilled to find out they pledged their immortal souls to fight evil fiends for the rest of their life. Hooked yet?
I love stories based on ancient myths and the concept of reincarnation is always fascinating. Can you give us an inside scoop about Magi myth?
ZOE FORWARD: Ten of the fiercest warriors were chosen by the Egyptian gods eons ago to protect us against daemons as they are summoned into our world by dark magik dabblers. Upon reincarnation each magus is on a slow countdown to insanity caused by exposure to the evil emitted by daemons. Only his soulmate can reverse this process.
Cool twist! FORGOTTEN IN DARKNESS is the next book in the series, how is this different and similar to Dawn of a Dark Knight?
ZOE FORWARD: In both books you’ll find crazy sexual tension, a hot alpha hero and a kickass heroine. But our characters face a different journey in each.
In DAWN OF A DARK KNIGHT we met the tormented magus Ashor who fights a forbidden attraction to the woman destined to be his, Kira. She was chosen by the gods to be the Scimitar magi’s sacred healer, which makes her off limits.
In FORGOTTEN IN DARKNESS we meet Shay and Dakar, two fated souls caught in an eon’s old curse that requires one murder the other within two weeks of meeting. Dakar has tried everything in the past to break the curse, except what the mysterious Asian shaman he consulted prior to his last incarnation – killing Shay. He has never been the one to plunge the knife in the past. Can he do it this time?
For a hot minute I read his name as Drakkar, LOL! How many books are you planning to write for the series?
ZOE FORWARD: There’s a third on its way in which wefollow Astrid, our newest magus recruit and the first female to be chosen. She’s soulbound to the most volatile of the magi, the guy that only got one chance atmagus-dom before the gods pulled him from duty and housed him in purgatory ever since – Draggon. But for Astrid fated souls is not enough for forever love.
On twitter format, why should readers pick up Scimitar Magi?

I love it! So many options to choose from! Thanks, Zoe!
Shay's brain ordered her body to make a break for it, or at least let loose a scream to draw attention, but she stood there, dazed and staring. It was the throw-your-panties-off-gorgeous bad boy from her hotel room.
My God, this guy was a brick shithouse oozing don't-screw-with-me vibes. And didn't that just make her knees weak. She was so not a swooning type of girl.
Despite the warmth of the day, he wore a knee-length black leather jacket. No doubt, he was armed out the wazoo beneath it.
He subjected her to a scrutinizing once-over. A swirling black substance in his irises mesmerized her. She hadn't noticed that last night.
What was this guy? Definitely not completely human. A month ago, she would've rationalized the sludgy black substance obscuring the real color of his irises into normalcy and remained in complete denial of anything amiss.
She wondered if this guy might just be the real deal--one of those mythical, sorcerer-like immortals obligated to fight daemons for all eternity. A Scimitar Magus. Shouldn't he be a good guy? A hero figure? Why then did her intuition demand immediate evasion? For some reason, her gut equated this guy with death, but not random death. Hers.

A deep part of her wishes she had a career that would have her at a dig site in a sandy country.
