An erotic paranormal romance...
Charismatic and powerful Lyceum Wolves' Alpha, Tristan Livingston, is out for revenge after a devastating attack on his pack. Not only did he survive a building collapse, he orchestrated the rebuild of his chic, state-of-the-art nightclub within a week. Determined to mete out justice, he rescues a beautiful witness who may be the key to helping him find the perpetrators.
Dr. Kalli Williams, dedicated veterinarian, is hiding a secret that endangers not only her own life but the lives of wolves across the country. After being tortured by a savage vampire, she's reluctantly agrees to help the sexy Alpha in his quest to identify suspects; ones who'd kill her on the spot if they knew she existed. As Kalli places herself in the hands of the dominant wolf, she soon finds she wants nothing more than to submit.
Tristan, committed to ruling his pack as a lone wolf, is inexplicably drawn to the mysterious and enticing woman, who seems more than human, but not quite supernatural. As he discovers her secret, he teaches her the meaning of trust, helping her learn how to be true to her nature. After living a lifetime alone, will he succumb to the visceral need to claim her, acknowledging the soul binding connection between an Alpha and his mate? And will he prevail against the menacing enemy who threatens to destroy Lyceum Wolves?
Warning: This book contains several erotic love scenes, including m/f/m menage, and is intended for adult readers only.
I can assure you that I do plan on revenge. And when I do, I'll look straight into their soul when their life leaves this earth.
TRISTAN'S LYCEUM WOLVES is the best and my favorite in the series so far. As werewolves are my favorite supernatural creature, I must say that Kym Grosso gave me a great erotic paranormal romance to curl up with. The previous two books were short novels so there wasn't enough space to tug and pull the story to add meat to it but Immortals of New Orleans 3 was chunkylicious and was well drawn out from the characters to the plot, conflict and resolution.
Like Luca, we met Tristan Livingston in Kade's book when he and Sydney were fluck buddies. And right off the bat, Tristan already made an impression on me. He's the Alpha of his pack and like other drool worthy Alphas, Tristan exudes power which makes him appear intimidating, formidable and downright sexy to me. Kalli did it best:
Falling in love with Tristan was easy. His physical beauty paled in comparison to his charismatic personality and cunning intellect. It took her breath away how he approached every single thing in his life with passion, vigor, from business to making love. She'd never witnessed such compassion and dominance in one man.
Kalli Williams is a unique heroine and a wild card. Kalli's backstory has tragedies embedded in the course of her life and just when she thought she finally had a clean slate, she found herself pulled back in the supernatural world. I didn't connect much with Kalli's character but I do love her transformation from meek and weak to fierce and dominant.
The romance between Tristan and Kalli is scorching as you can see on that little insert KGrosso added on the blurb. I'm surprised that a territorial Alpha like Tristan is willing to share his boon much less his mate but whatever works right? KGrosso gave us lots of material to fire up our imaginations. As for the more tender moments, what I love about Immortals of New Orleans is there's no insta-love and the mate claiming are properly placed. The men and women are allowed to develop feelings for each other. There's strong sexual attraction from the start but the realization that they've found their mate is slow and gradual. They're not sucker punched into the whole "marriage and commitment" thing, instead they go through the "normal dating process", as per the supernatural code, and sort out their feelings from there.
Aside from the slow burning but powerful romance, I also like the plot and conflict of TRISTAN'S LYCEUM WOLVES. The plot has the same flavor as Larissa Ione's Bound by Night and the conflict is personal along the lines of treason and betraying a long standing friendship. There is something that I missed or got confused with and if any of you are familiar with the series, maybe you could enlighten me a little bit. In Luca's Magic Embrace we were introduced to Tristan's sister, Kat but here, Tristan made it sound like he just brothers and no sister? So which is which?
In any case, if you like sexy were/shifter stories, you'll get a kick out of TRISTAN'S LYCEUM WOLVES. I still recommend you pick up the series and start with Kade's Dark Embrace (FREEBIE) but if you're not a big fan of vampires, you can start with this installment as this is a new story arc.
