*** The Master Undone is a part of the Inside Out trilogy, and is told from his POV. ***

I told him goodbye, and I will not call him. I know if I do, it will be my undoing, and I'll once again be caught up in his spell. I will once again be...lost.

In her private journals, Rebecca laid bare her soul, revealing her obsession for the one man whose erotic demands captivated her imagination--and enslaved her forever. Now, with Rebecca no longer in his life he is lost, questioning everything he thought he knew about himself and about control he holds in such high regard. One women will reach out to heal him and then turn away, leaving him haunted. She is nothing he thought he wanted and somehow everything he needs. He tells himself to forget her but he cannot escape his desire for her. He has to have more...

This novel is about The Master. Rebecca's mysterious and domineering Master. For the benefit of those who haven't read Being Me, I will not disclose the identity of The Master. Inasmuch as I'm gloating because I guessed right, I don't want to be a spoilsport and ruin the fun. So in this short review, I'll keep on referring to him as The Master despite the fact that the events that took place in THE MASTER UNDONE is post Being Me.
Sex is my drug, not booze, but it's no escape right now. Not when I don't have control. Never without control.
I've never been fond of The Master in and out of the BDSM scene especially after I read about him in Rebecca's Lost Journals. He takes ownership seriously and frankly, he gives me the heebies. I mean I know he's not bad but the way I imagine him is he's this larger than life person, the air around him crackles with dominance, giving him an air of invincibility and self- importance. And that to me is just plain horse manure. I like cocky not arrogant, there's a fine line separating the two and The Master is most definitely an arrogant mofo powered by his money and looks.

However I think The Master has softened me a little bit after reading his novella. THE MASTER UNDONE humanized the proud Master and seeing him getting all torn-up over Rebecca and his Mother's battle with breast cancer gave him a much attitude adjustment. What's even more interesting is for the first time, The Master allowed himself to be vulnerable and rethink his lifestyle. What I find promising and interesting is Crystal, this ballsy chick who doesn't seem to be intimidated by The Master. By some stroke of fate and miracle, Crystal came at a very good time, managed to chip some of his armor and saw a glimpse of the person behind the Dominant mask. I hope Crystal sticks around, I have a feeling she's the one who can heal our tortured hero.

I love THE MASTER UNDONE, the anti-hero got his redemption and it looks like he has a shot at making amends and starting over. In terms of the hotness factor, LRJones kept the novella more emotional, highlighting The Master's grief and desire to climb out of the rut he found himself in. Now that Chris and Sara are in a good place, Rebecca's mystery solved and a breakthrough in The Master's character, I'm excited to see how LRJones is going to wrap this trilogy in a bow. Can't wait to start Revealing Us!

In 2003, award winning author Lisa Renee Jones sold her Austin, Texas based multi-state staffing agency and has since published over thirty novels and novellas across several genres. Her staffing agency LRJ Staffing was recognized many times by The Austin Business Journal and also praised by Dallas Women Magazine. In 1998 LRJ was listed as the #7 growing women owned business in Entrepreneur Magazine.

Her debuts with Blaze and Nocturne hit Bookscan’s Top 100 list and her Blaze Hotzone trilogy made a showing on the list in 2011 also. With a new Blaze trilogy, a short story for Spice, the third book in her Zodius series published with Sourcebooks, as well as an rapidly growing indie following, 2012 will bring many new stories to her readers. Booklist says about Jones’ suspense: “…truly sizzles with an energy similar to FBI tales with a paranormal twist by Julie Garwood or Suzanne Brockmann. Alpha, military, and paranormal romance readers will want Jones’ entire series.”

  5. I just love this series! The Master Undone and Revealing Us are both excellent. I felt the same way about Master Undone humanizing him, we definitely needed to see his vulnerable side.

    1. Yes! It's about time for him to crack! I'm sad that Rebecca didn't see it, so sad that it happened at her expense.
