Saute, simmer, and flambĂ©…
Jill Adgate wants three things from life: a successful catering business, the devoted love of an exceptional man, and a family. What she has is no job, a mounting pile of bills, and her outspoken best friend—who sets her up on a blind date with the man who inadvertently ruined Jill’s life.

Chet Castle is a prosperous businessman who has everything, except the ability to trust. Burned by a money-hungry fiancée, he refuses to get involved with any relationship that has a shelf life longer than a head of lettuce.

Intrigued by her ambition—and determined to get her in bed—Chet offers Jill the chance of a lifetime: Work for him for the next eight weeks as his live-in chef and he’ll help her get her catering business off the ground. When sparks fly in the kitchen, Jill realizes what’s cooking with her commitment-phobic employer is a recipe for disaster…but it’s just too tasty to not take a bite.
Hooray for old school, feel-good romances because that's exactly what BACHELOR'S SPECIAL by Christine Warner is. The characters are enticing, the romance delectable and the writing is simply warm and cozy. This is my kind of book getaway, light and fluffy with just the right amount of romance and sexy.

BACHELOR'S SPECIAL is charged with sexual tension minus the bickering. I love feisty females and cocky heroes but once in a while I want a little bit of normal and realistic. Jill Adgate is a very relatable character. She's at that phase in her life where she's trying to turn it around and make something for herself. So despite her intuition telling her that a 2-month deal with the irresistible Chet Castle isn't wise for her own peace of mind, she compromised her personal opinion in exchange for pursuing her dreams and persevering towards her goal.

Chet Castle is a breath of fresh air. He's rich, smart, charming but he's not the typical badboy-too-slick-to-catch kind of bachelor. Chet is a little raw because his ex-fiance turned out to be a gold-digging barracuda but regardless of this disappointment, Chet remains light-hearted and welcomed Jill into his life. I enjoyed seeing him court Jill and slowly break down her defenses even if he has major trust issues. You gotta love a guy who's level headed and tries to have an open heart, trust issues and all.

I really love BACHELOR'S SPECIAL, Jill and Chet's love story was beyond cute I snuggled with the book last night. The conflict was a case of wrong assumptions so it wasn't the usual cliche we often find in romantic stories. The crux of the story was well drawn out and even if it turned out to be nothing but a false emergency, it did its job in as far as shaking Jill and Chet and giving them both a much needed attitude adjustment. Aside from the well-written plot, conflict and resolution, the secondary characters are scene stealers too starting with Jill's bestfriend Mel, who is so outspoken she probably haven't heard the word filter in her life. And Chet's ex-girlfriend, Gail "The Barracuda" was so vicious and irritating she perfectly contrasted Jill's girl-next-door character.

BACHELOR'S SPECIAL was the perfect in-between book and last-minute summer read. All I can do is gush over this latest CWarner novel and try my best to push it to y'all. Now, if you're still unconvinced, meet the characters here and I'm pretty sure you'll be adding this to your respective TBRs.
