Gush and Gripe: Burning Blogoversary

Feedburner Gripes
I probably shouldn't start griping in the heels of our 2nd blogoversary. Don't get me wrong, I am most grateful for that. But before I get to that part, let me first get something off my chest and apologize to you, our dearest Supies.

June 12, 2013 is the exact date of our blogoversary and as it's our 2nd birthday, we threw a month long celebration to ensure that everyone who wants to party with us get to. After calling in favors from some of our favorite authors, special posts, setting up fantastic giveaways, and what-not, frickin' Feedburner bailed on us mid-month!

I felt a little crestfallen and embarrassed because we're not getting the traffic we're expecting. So I kept thinking, was it the giveaways or the post that doesn't appeal to our readers or are our blogoversary just lame? It wasn't til June was almost over when, Debbie, made the discovery. It's all fixed now but we've lost momentum. I'm even more bummed because I was planning to post something special to close off the month but with Feedburner down, I decided against it. It defeats the purpose given that the message will not reach my intended audience. Gah!

So we apologize if you got an email that looked like this the other day:
Its a dizzying list we know and these are two and a half weeks worth of blog post! No wonder the party invites didn't reach y'all! Gah!

P.S. Thanks Melissa ( for bringing this to our attention! Muah!

Blogoversary Gush
On a happier note, WE JUST TURNED 2!!!

We're so psyched because Talk Supe has become more than a hobby for Debbie and I. Our passion for reading has evolved into something else. Yes it can be stressful and time consuming but at the same time, it's also very fulfilling.

You've read us mention it several times but I'll never grow tired of saying it: blogging enriched my reading life, it took me out of my comfort zone and sent me to more adventures. Not to mention the amazing people I met and gotten close to along the way! I'm not much of a fangirl and I'm not very active on Twitter or even Facebook but I've managed to connect with a lot people who share my passion and that connection exceeded simple blogger-to-blogger chats. I'm so happy and grateful to have struck actual FRIENDSHIPS with a bunch of book lovers strewn all over the world, having real conversations, sharing life stories and what-not. That is my favorite part of all and I will always be grateful for these relationships.

To our existing Supies, THANK YOU for inspiring and supporting us, we won't be here if not for YOU! To our new, Supies, a big WELCOME! We hope you find our posts worth reading and our blog worth following.

  1. It seems to be working now. I've gotten yesterday and today's emails perfectly :)

  2. So sorry to hear about your Feedburner woes, Braine! I stopped using it toward the end of last year when there were rumors of it shutting down. We've been with FeedBlitz since then, and I've happy with it so far. FeedBlitz does charge for its email subscription service based on the amount of subscribers, but it's been manageable for us because we don't have too many.

I was pretty angry at Google search earlier this year when we completely disappeared from its results for about 2 weeks. Quite a bit of our traffic comes from there, and being invisible was a blow. We haven't had another incident as bad as that one, but our traffic from Google search hits has continued to fluctuate since then.

On a happier note, congrats on your blogoversary! It's the same day as my birthday! It has been so awesome getting to know you and chatting about books, Downton, and, of course, Game of Thrones! I was wondering if you'll be checking out the adaptation of Philippa Gregory's The White Queen on Starz. I don't get the channel as of now, but I've been debating whether or not it's worth subscribing to for the show. You know how I love my Plantagenets!

    1. Google - that's a bummer! I know what you mean, we all scramble for traffic so it sucks when this happens. It's like talking to an empty room!

Yes, Lee! YOU'RE part of the short list of fellow bloggers I chitchat with. So fun to talk about other stuff! Thanks for the White Queen head's up, I've read the book and loved it. I used to be a Tudors fan (who can't resist Henry VIII's scandalous life?! Better than any reality show) but that book leveled my opinion about the Plantagenets. I will check that out!

My reviews are subjective & does not reflect that of Talk Supe's followers.

Also I LOVE commenting back so if you're checking out a post, leave a line or two and I promise to visit your blog back. Let's feed each other's blogger soul!
