Genre: Contemporary Romance
In BETRAYED, the second installment of the Trust series, Sophia, Ethan and Alistair will face and revisit their past dark deeds.

Each one of them will need to overcome their guilt, fear and pain and learn to see themselves through forgiving eyes.

Or succumb to their misery.

Alistair Connor MacCraig, a powerful banker, and Ethan Ashford, a steel tycoon, are both in love with Sophia Leibowitz, the ravishing owner of Leibowitz Oil.

Sophia fells for Alistair's seduction. She is determined to have a relationship with him but a dark and terrible secret lurks beneath the surface she presents to the world. When she regains her memories, shame and fear will take control of her. Will she be able to find peace within herself?

Alistair is in love with Sophia but he has difficulties overcoming his guilty over his daughter's death and his sexual preferences. Certain that he doesn't deserve to be loved, he would do everything to push Sophia away, despite his love for her. Will he be able to find redemption?

Ethan, no less haunted by his secrets and lies, lives in an alternate reality because the loss of Sophia is too unbearable to face. He would do everything to have Sophia back in his arms.

TRUST: BETRAYED, book 2 of Cristiane Serruya's Trust Series is possibly the most emotional novel of the trilogy. CSerruya explores the depth of Sophia, Alistair Connor and Ethan's baggage, the ghosts that continue to haunt them, the depth of each of their brokenness and how their respective damaged pasts continue to bleed into their lives, making their shot for the much coveted HEA harder.

TRUST: BETRAYED is a little intimidating at first glance running at 551 pages in print but it was a breeze to read. There are no dull moments as the story flip flops from past to present. CSerruya slowly drew out the different backstories getting us more and more invested in her characters' lives, turning everything gray and blurring all sorts of lines. I also appreciate the noticeable decrease in label dropping which were so abundant in Trust: A New Beginning. I know I'm being subjective but as I'm a poor commoner, I really can't relate to her characters' obscene wealth, so THANK YOU, Cristiane Serruya, for making Sophia, Alistair and Ethan a little more accessible to us this time around. Another thing that stood out were the colorful descriptions CSerruya gave us which had me Googling places and things, Sophia's gastronomical adventures in particular had my mouth watering all the time!

For in Sophia I have found my salvation

and my damnation. - Alistair Connor

I'll be your destruction. And you'll be mine. - Sophia
TRUST: BETRAYED is basically Sophia and Alistair Connor's story and boy is this novel dripping with sex! These two lovebirds have unparalleled passion for each other and every love making had them falling deeper and deeper in love. As Sophia and Alistair Connor grow more and more serious, the need to come clean became imperative. Both have serious secrets that may or may not unravel them and the need to disclose key portions of their respective pasts and get acceptance is crucial to their future. I love how CSerruya really dug her heels in and fleshed out Sophia and Alistair Connor with their compelling internalization and dilemmas. The steps that Sophia and Alistair went through before their great reveals were heart wrenching, digging up all that pain was emotionally and mentally torturous for both their great love for each other was what saved them. I know it sounds cheesy but CSerruya wrote those sequences with a lot of heart and self-deprecation it's humbling in its honesty.

Ethan, the third angle in this love triangle also made a very strong case. In Trust: A New Beginning Ethan easily became the villain but CSerruya humanized him. Ethan's ghosts and dysfunctions comes from deep rooted hurts stemming from continuous rejection and manipulation from people who should be taking care of him. His obsession for Sophia became so consuming his attempts to win her back were desperate and pathetic I almost feel bad for the guy. However I refuse to believe that Ethan has accepted defeat, I know he still has a few tricks up his sleeve and I'm eager to see how he'll play his hand.

One other character grabbed my attention is Tavish Uilleam, Alistair's brooding and very rational younger brother. This man is a tortured soul himself and his story is screaming to be told! I'm hoping CSerruya's next project is his HEA after Trust wraps up. Fingers crossed my wish will be granted! Back to the series... there's so much more that's about to happen in the third and last installment, Pandora's Box, that will rock Sophia and Alistair's union based on how TRUST: BETRAYED ended on top of the pre-existing issues concerning Sophia and Alistaire and I can't wait to read how this drama is going to wrap up! I have a feeling it's going to be bloody.

  3. Hi, Braine,
I am very, very honoured with you hosting me again and with such loving words! Thanks for reading and reviewing Trust: Betrayed!
I'm really glad that you can relate better to Sophia, Ethan and Alistair. I have a better feeling about this book too.
*Rubbing hands* And an even better about the third.
I'll be doing all of Sophia's siblings stories but don't worry, Tavish Uilleam will have his HEA and lots of anguish and pain, too. *evil grin*
    Again, thank you!

P.S. - I have to say, you got just the right feeling about Trust: Pandora's Box!
I have so many surprises inside it that I can't wait to let a few out in a juicy excerpt on September 17th + cover reveal. Are you ready?

    1. I was born ready! LOL

I have so many things I want to say about the side characters but I want to keep the review focused on the big 3. The twins are adorable and I hope Carolina breaks up with that slimey Drake dude. Felipe is so vanilla, looks upstanding, old-school gentleman.

      Tavish! YES! YOU MUST!

      Keep on writing!

    1. Thanks, Brandee! The books are really great, it's a bit long but that's because of the complexities of the characters. I hope you can take the time to read them.
