Appliances Online UK: Cassandra Clare Print Giveaway

Cheryl Hughes, Editor of Appliances Online UK's Blog, is here today to share her love of books. Like us, she's ADORES Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series.
Here's her mini review of City of Bones.

You’d be surprised to know that when the books first came out I didn’t realise they existed and spent my time on other series like Twilight. I spent the last few years without them until I saw the trailer for the film! And then I found out that behind the trailer was a series of books I had been missing out on! Not just one a whole five books of awesomeness that I hadn’t adventured into. So I went and bought City Of Bones… and now I’m hooked!

The cover of City of Bones is so eye catching and I love that it is most likely to be Jace on the front cover overlooking the city. I like that they keep the same theme throughout the covers too as it makes everything more familiar, just like Cassandra Clare’s writing.

Cassie has a wonderful way of writing the hidden world and I can easily follow the surroundings and the story and get completely sucked into it. I have read so many reviews from amazing bloggers and find myself reading the reviews in place of the book when my book has to be left by my bedside. Of course, this doesn’t help as it just makes me want to read more! I keep hearing about twists and turns and devastating news and as much as I want to know, I’m frightened of knowing and being heartbroken!

I fell in love with Jace as soon as he entered the story, as I’m sure most people have done. I do love Simon and his sarcasm however, I can see what’s coming here… and I’m not looking forward to the decision making, so far the choice is clear, shhh – Don’t tell me!

I like the fact that Clary is a relatable character, well she is to me! It’s in a world within our world but I feel it makes you think – yes that’s what I would do in that situation. OK I haven’t read too far into the book so if you’re all screaming at me now saying I would so not make that decision then I apologise, I haven’t got that far. I also like how instantly likeable Jace is, maybe even more than Edward or Jacob! I swoon when he appears on a page, its great!

I hope the cast of the film can hold up to the particular personality for each character as I hate when they get it wrong. I know it can never match up to my imagination however I hope they come close.

Thanks for sharing, Cheryl!
