He's Gone Rogue

Ex-Navy SEAL Rock Babineaux’s job is to get information, and he’s one of the best in the business. Until something goes horribly wrong and he’s being hunted by his own government. Even his best friends at the covert special-ops organization Black Knights Inc. aren’t sure they can trust him. He thinks he can outrun them all, but his former partner—a curvy bombshell who knows just how to drive him wild—refuses to cut him loose.

She Won't Back Down

Vanessa Cordova hasn’t been the team’s communication specialist very long, but she knows how to read people—no way is Rock guilty of murder. And she’ll go to hell and back to help him prove it. Sure, the sexy Cajun has his secrets, but there’s no one in the world she’d rather have by her side in a tight spot. Which is good, because they’re about to get very tight.

Because while I have no doubt I could give you the thrill ride of your life, I can guarantee that's all it'll be. You see, ma belle, no matter what, you can't let yourself fall in love with me.

By far, I think THRILL RIDE is the BEST volume in the series IMO! I mean I still have a soft spot for the others especially In Rides Trouble just because I love Frank and Becky but THRILL RIDE I think is the quintessential Black Knights Inc. novel!

As Julie Ann Walker shared in her interview, THRILL RIDE can be read as a stand-alone so for those of you who are curious, you can get the biggest bite, the biggest sampler of the series with this one. It has all the delicious characteristics of the series from the witty comebacks, snarky one-liners, heart-pounding suspense/action to the mercury rising smex scenes! What's THRILL RIDE about? The blurb pretty much sums it up and in addition, BKI, and Vanessa in particular, are on a mission to clear Rock's name and get to the bottom of this sticky situation. And fishing him out of this shit hole was complete mayhem! In a good way. The intense scenes played out so clearly in my head it's like a moving picture in my brain, it's obvious JAWalker's muse was inspired when she whispered the story in her ears. I very much appreciated one particular scenario where the tension between BKI and the CIA are so thick I was holding my breath. That was GOLDEN!

Because every other thought in his head seemed to circle back to the fact that he wanted to know her body.

Every detail of it...

The shape of her hips. The smoothness of the skin behind her knees. The taste of her desire on his lips when he kissed her where she was hot and wet. He wanted to know the way she responded when she was being loved. How she breathed when he kissed her nipples. How she arched when he entered her body. How she moved beneath him, above him. He wanted to know her. I. All of it. All of her...

So on to the characters! Maybe I'm a little jealous but Vanessa didn't really "speak" to me the way sweet little Becky did. I mean she's great but she wasn't the kick-ass chick I was expecting her to be considering she's a BKI operator herself. I guess I was expecting Angelina Jolie (Salt) and instead I got a Jessica Biel (Terminator) sort off. But despite this very subjective expectation, it didn't dampen my enthusiasm for the story.

--he smelled good, like fresh foliage, harsh soap, and good, clean, healthy sweat. Basically, he smelled like he looked.

Now Rock (DIBS!) is just like his fellow Knights. Gorgeous and that Cajun accent of his?! SWOON! I've been in lust with this guy since Rev It Up and like Jake's snake, I want Richard Babineaux’s Rock[s]!! The dude is simply breathtaking from his drool-worthy physique, sexy accent down to his loyalty. I can't help but get swept away when his fellow Knights were trying to "rescue" him and he was just bawling and resisting because he doesn't want them getting caught in the crossfire.

Now like I said THRILL RIDE can be read as a stand-alone but I still suggest you grab Rev It Up because this is where you'll first glimpse of Rock and Vanessa. Maybe it's torture but I like the build-up and the tension. It just makes things more intriguing, enhancing the more graphic parts so to speak. But aside from the specifics of each story and JAWalker's good looking men, I think the  reason why you, my fellow romance lovers, will love Black Knights Inc., is the shifting POV. I really appreciate this writing device especially on those crucial moments. Getting inside the head of the characters and how they're taking in the situation adds another delicious layer to the story especially during those sexually tense moments where everything is at a stand still and you can "hear" what each person is thinking and feeling. It's like same energies colliding and it'll result to this firework explosion of sorts. You get what I'm trying to say here right?!

So I really love how this series is progressing. It just keeps getting better and better and as I meet more and more Knights, the more that I get anxious to read their story. Ozzie in particular is super cute and I can't wait til we get to his story... Maybe after Bill and Eve's?

Now this is what I'm hoping, and this totally came up while reading THRILL RIDE. See not all groups are as tight as we think and hope them to be, eventually there will be disagreements, rivalries and such, especially with a group of Alpha men regardless if they're led by a strong man, in this case that would be Frank. Now wouldn't it be interesting if the Knights' greatest adversary is their own?

Something to think about Julie! But this is just a suggestion from a fan. Still whatever direction you choose to take, I'm sure it'll be good! MORE BKI!!!

  8. Lol I love Rock and as I read the book first, he's MINE! :p but I'll make you a deal Braine... if you keep your hands off MY Ozzy, I'll eventually let go of Rock. yay? Do we have a deal? Lol xD I have no shame, I know this haha. Anyways great review :) I do agree with you about Vanessa. She's not exactly the tough kick ass operator I thought she'd be, but her heart and loyalty make up for it as far as I'm concerned. And OMG that standstill with the CIA... gahh!! Just, wow >.<
