Emilia Wentworth would do anything for her sister.

For three years, Emilia has lived in the past, feeling her sister's pain and hating those who are to blame, including one of the Sloan brothers.

Finally, she has had enough. The only way to be free is to create a Burn List with all the people who have ever hurt her sister.

As she crosses each name of, she gets closer and closer to her final target.

But, things aren't always as they seem.

Loyalties are tested.
Boundaries are crossed.
And the truth is revealed.

Dark love hurts.
I've been holding my breath for Sloan Brothers 2 since I've read Every Which Way last month because Macsen Sloan truly, madly, deeply made my head spin with his brokenness. I mean I loved him and his big brother, Thayer, and their family is just a clusterfuck of dysfunction but Macsen was begging for redemption. The wait won't be long now for those of you who are in the same boat as I am because that's all going to happen in BREAKING THE WRONG.

BREAKING THE WRONG, like I said is Macsen's story. The one talking in the blurb is troubled rich girl, and newly transplanted student, Emilia Wentworth, whose got a hit list and Macsen's her next target. The first half of the story we see Emilia on a mission out to bring Macsen down and we get caught up in this mystery of why she's in it for the youngest Sloan and what Macsen did exactly to inspire such a fierce vendetta against him. As the story unfolds we see Emilia's heartbreaking past and what Macsen's role was in the whole thing. This brief interlude in Macsen's past where his path crossed with the Wentworths further reinforces that our guy is one hot mess, trouble just follows him everywhere! The guy just can't catch a break it seems.

In Every Which Way Macsen left us with a bad taste in our mouth for him. The guy was a royal douche just destroying everything in his path for whatever plausible reason he can think of whether its to get back to his brother or to soothe his selfish desires. But that big Sloan family drama made it very clear that there's more to Macsen's jerkiness than meets the eye. And though I wasn't pleased with the youngest Sloan brother, I sure was rooting hard for him.

So did he find redemption? Not quite. But he's on his way there. The Sloan family healing wasn't really dealt with here but it did give us a little background on how Macsen's childhood was with their mom, Laurena. It wasn't pretty and clearly poor little Macsen became a pawn in his parents divorce which messed him up big time. He's still more or less the same enigmatic guy we met in Every Which Way but Emilia was able to break some of his walls a little bit and he's on speaking terms with both Thayer and Severine. So at least things are improving one baby step at a time.
It's a fucking shame that she's so intense because she's gorgeous. But there's something completely fucking terrifying about her.
On to our heroine, Emilia Wentworth, who really piqued my curiosity. At the end of Every Which Way my Bitch radar went crazy for this girl and I was so sure she was up to no good. In a way I'm pleased that she turned out to be a decent chick with messed up intentions at first but part of me hoped that she was a bad girl of some sort. Honestly I was hoping that she'll be someone like Georgina Sparks (Gossip Girl) with her mysterious plotting and creepy people watching. Obviously my calculations about her are wrong and though she may not be as sharp and witty as Severine, her abstract personality perfectly complemented Macsen's.

Now I have to mention Chris for a bit, the Sloan brothers' roommate and bestie. The guy is just hilarious and, Calia Read, if you happen to see this review, please make a novella for Chris! The guy needs some little loving to tone down his party ways, it doesn't have to be HEA but I'd like to see him lovestoned over a girl who won't easily fall for his charming lover boy persona. That would be an entertaining and interesting little short story.

BREAKING THE WRONG is a solid sequel to Every Which Way. Although IMHO, the first one was more intense and the emotions were more fleshed out still BREAKING THE WRONG managed to allow Macsen to tell his side of the story and started his personal healing process with Emilia's help. I was hoping CRead would pan a little on the Sloan family because I'd really like to see the brother's fractured relationships stitched up a little. But I guess I have to wait for the next book which Calia said will be about big brother Matthias. She further shared that it'll be more adult and his love story will involve a student-teacher relationship. Interesting...*rubs hands in glee*. As always, I can't wait to read more of the Sloans, keep 'em coming Calia!
The truth is that I keep coming back to you because I love you. And that sometimes fells impossible, that I can love someone with my fucked up past. I've always been afraid of love, but with you, it doesn't matter. I need you.
