Gush & Gripe #13: LD Con + Swag Giveaway

So I was at my first ever book signing. It was the LD Con Nashville with Donna Grant and Lisa Renee Jones. Unfortunately we missed Lisa because she was sick and couldn't make it to the event. Still it was fun with Donna, her dragons and the rest of the awesome ladies who went to the Con. Sorry the photos aren't that good, I just took these from my phone so they suck a little.

I was lucky enough to be one of the chosen 6 attendees who got invited by Donna for lunch. We met at Darfon's and it was very relaxed, very interactive and everyone at the table had something funny or interesting to share. I had a great time simply from meeting these women and from laughing so much! I think I just got inducted as one of Donna's Glow in the Dark Bitches. It's an honor LOL.

It was a small event but what it lacked in attendance more than made up for how personal it became and how everyone mingled really well and by the end of the event everybody was just chit chatting about a bunch of stuff from dragons, Scotsmen, whiskey, cupcakes, books and more book stuff.

My favorite part aside from the freebies, games, giveaways and other stuff

are the people I met! I have a better appreciation for fandom, it feels so good to talk to people who shares the same passion or hobby as I do. I don't feel like such a geek and I don't have to elaborate or justify my book obsession with them. They totally get it! Ha!

So I met these awesome bloggers!

Vanessa the The Jeep Diva
Melissa of and she's also Donna's "rock"

And I was lucky enough to cross paths with these two.

Josette, who drove for 13 hours from Ohio, and a hardcore Donna fan. This girl is so sweet! She intentionally missed out on J.R. Ward's book signing in Ohio for Donna's. A little gossip, she shared that Ms. Ward's signing is packed that it's like a live virtual signing. You can't even greet her or have your picture taken. A bummer but I guess that's the price for famedom!

Donette, a fellow Tennessean from Knoxville. She girl is mothafrackin awesome! I will never forget the Red Coffin! She's so funny, she reminds me so much of Janeane Garofalo.

I wasn't able to take a picture with the two Cindy's who drove with Donette from Knoxville on a rental car ridden with werewolf fur. I had a laughtastic time with them!

The events were really cool and intimate given that there were only about 20+ of us who made it to the event because it was Easter Sunday the next so it conflicted with people's plans. But Donna and Melissa made it so worth out while to spend an afternoon with them. There were games, whiskey shots, cupcake design and a forum.

It was a great experience for me and I'm sure it won't be my last.

I will be giving away sets of swags. These are a combo of trading cards, bookmarks and Lisa Renee Jones' booklet.
This is open internationally.
Just fill out the rafflecopter form and be on your merry way.
Contest ends April 8.

Good luck!

Guest Bloggers: Anya Breton & Lily Element

This month's special guests are not only special but a little quirky. Inasmuch as we love reading here at Talk Supe, we love girly stuff too from fashion to make-up to nail polish!

So we invited our friends, Mel of Lily Element and Indie Author Anya Breton to share their girly obsession!

They run a beauty blog together and their latest project, Nailed at Night, is one of my newest obsession and here's why.

For those of you who don’t know us, we’re two gals obsessed with books and make-up. Melissa is a book reviewer with a penchant for beauty samples. Anya is an erotic romance author with an obsession for nail polish. Today we’re combining our two favorite things to bring you our picks for our favorite characters and the make-up they’d use… if they were real (ohmigosh, we wish they were!)

Rachel Morgan – The Hollows
The first is Rachel Morgan from the awesome Urban Fantasy series "The Hollows" by Kim Harrison. Rachel is a kick-ass day-walking demon witch on a budget. Leather is her go-to outfit for work.

Make Up: I honestly picture Rachel going without make up in most cases. If she has a hot date or has to crash a fancy party I think she'd probably wear a cheap yet pigmented lip stain (so she won't have to reapply) like Revlon Just Bitten.

Mani: Rachel’s ley line mani is done with Sinful Colors polish at a bargain $2/bottle in “Sugar Sugar” and “Secret Admirer”.

Miriam - Miriam Black Series
Next we have Miriam. She’s an in your face character that doesn’t hesitate to be herself. The series involves crows/ravens as you can see on the cover so her mani had to reflect that.

Make Up: For Miriam, I picture her wearing a lot of MAC's pigmented products. Stolen of course. But we don't condone that kind of behavior. If she has to purchase things herself, I picture her with Wet N Wild make up from the drug store.

Mani: Miriam's mani can be achieved by using China Glaze "White on White" as a base coat and free handing birds with black sharpie.

Camille D’Artigo – Otherworld
The half-human, half-fae Camille D’Artigo of Yasmine Galenorn's "Otherworld" series is our third pick. She's a badass witch that has a love for corsets and sexy lingerie.

Make Up: I've always pictured Camille with a sultry smoky eye using MAC eye shadows, and pairing it with a deep red MAC lipstick.

Mani: Get Camille’s corset nails using these colors: China Glaze "White on White" as a base for the nail. Maybelline Color Show "Amethyst Ablaze" for the corset. The grommets are Essie "No Place Like Chrome". And the laces are ORLY "Liquid Vinyl".

Samantha Avira – Alpha Exposed
Air witch Samantha Avira from Anya’s erotic romance "Alpha Exposed" is our fourth pick. This conservative caterer lets loose with a hot weretiger Alpha. Sam is into neutral colors that won’t draw too much attention to her away from her amazing food.

Make Up: Sam is the kind of woman that loves neutrals. The Urban Decay Naked 2 eye shadow palette suits her. It has the perfect range of colors that work for day and night. Plus, the double-ended brush means she has one less brush to carry.

Mani: Sam’s grey ombre has just a hint of naughty to it. Achieve this mani by using these polishes: ORLY “Decoded”, Ombre tips are ORLY "White on White". The tiger stamp color is Essie “Penny Talk”. Use Bundle Monster plate BM-223 for the tiger stripes.

Cassandra Palmer
Pythia Cassandra Palmer from Karen Chance’s books is our final pick. Cassie has a lot on her plate and is always fighting for her life but she can clean up well when she wants to!

Make Up: Cassie seems more of a high end make up type of gal. I picture her with Benefit Hervana blush, Benefit They're Real Mascara, Urban Decay Perversion eye pencil, and tarte LipSurgence lip luster.

Mani: Get Cassie's mani with these colors: Julep “Jessica”, ORLY “Sweet Peacock” for the stamp and a hint of ORLY "Liquid Vinyl". Use Bundle Monster plate BM-321 for the stamp design.

Thanks ladies, you both are awesome!
I wish I have your creativity, I'm really super jealous!

So, Supies, if you like books and have a penchant for beauty products and would like get tips on where to get great freebies; or if a certain product is any good; or you just want a forum to share your beauty obsession, check their blogs out and FOLLOW them!

Novella - Romantic Suspense
Recently retired Delta Force Operator Reid Cormier utilizes his special skills by working black ops jobs all around the world with his former teammates and their wives. Reid’s career keeps him busy, but he can’t get his last job—or the woman involved—out of his head.

US Marshall Grier Vanderhall faked her own death without telling Reid of the plan first, and he couldn’t forgive her duplicity. But when Reid learns that Grier has been kidnapped by a dangerous ring of criminals, he drops everything and heads to New Orleans to rescue her. And while Reid knows that his skills make him the best option to get Grier back, he’s not sure if this mission will give them another chance—or get them both killed.

Includes a preview of the first Section Eight novel, Unbreakable.

This time, he kissed her and for the first time in all of this, she realized how much trouble she was in. She was in far more danger with Reid and his kisses than with anything else going on.

She couldn’t help but give in. Reid’s mouth was hot, his tongue talented and the tension that had radiated between them threatened to turn explosive. And as much as she hurt, she was willing to be in pain if it meant having Reid close. Not angry.

They were better off not talking. This was where they excelled, she told herself, although that wasn’t entirely true.

His fingers skimmed her rib cage so carefully, his fingers settling on her breasts, his thumbnail scraping a nipple lightly in that oh so perfect way he had. She held his biceps tightly so she wouldn’t make a sudden move and jolt her ribs, but she did let out a long moan as his mouth moved from mouth to breast, covering her nipple through the thin cotton tank she wore. The wet of his mouth and the fabric increased her sensitivity and alternately made her want to beg for that mouth on her skin. But he wouldn’t be rushed—had always taken his time with her, no matter how ready to come she was.

She’d spent many a night longing for these touches. Dreaming about them. Now she would revel in them and let herself forget everything but the man in front of her. She surrendered, the way she’d wanted to for months. The way she did in her dreams since she’d been separated from Reid.
But he wasn’t going to make it easy on her even as he drove her crazy.

He dragged the cotton tank up with his teeth so he could play with her bared nipples, pushed himself gently between her legs and she was trapped by his big body. She shifted a little on the mattress, but it was too soft. She could do nothing but remain there as his hand ghosted up her inner thigh toward her sex. At the first touch, she dug her hands into the blankets and tried to remember to breathe. The way his fingers and mouth alternately teased was enough to push her over the edge and oh, how she wanted that . . .

He pulled his mouth away.

“You never called,” he reminded her as his fingers played along her sex. He pushed one slowly inside and then slid a second alongside of it.

She gasped as he opened her, his thumb working magic along the tight bundle of nerves that threatened to push her over the edge far too soon. “I wanted to . . .”

“Really?” He sounded unconvinced. He leaned forward to tug a nipple lightly between his teeth, flicked it with his tongue a few times and the sensation jumped right to her groin. And then he pulled back and his fingers stilled and she wanted more. Needed more.

“Reid, please.”

“You wanted to call me. You had my number. Why didn’t I hear from you?”

His fingers played again for a few blissful seconds and then stopped again, frustrating her enough to blurt out, “I was scared.”

He stared at her for a long minute. “Good enough.”

He moved forward again to mouth her nipple and she sighed as he sucked it, hard, then soft then hard again until her blood thrummed.

When he pulled away, he murmured, “Stay still. Don’t want to hurt you.”

It would be hard to not move but the novelty of staying perfectly still while in the throes of pleasure made her insides quiver. Her thighs trembled as he splayed them, and while he kept his hands firmly on her hips, he moved his mouth to her sex.

She tightened her body in response and then released her muscles, and suddenly, pain was no longer an issue. His tongue worked her sensitive flesh and it wouldn’t take much. She’d been ready to come for him from the first touch. Now she watched Reid watching her, and yes, it was the hottest thing since last year, when being with Reid had also been the best sex of her life.

The best everything.

At that thought, her climax exploded through her like a wave crashing her body into a rolling, floating ball of sensation. She floated along with it for who knew how long, until she shook off the haze slightly and found Reid covering her, telling her to sleep.

She reached out to grab his wrist. “So fast.”

“Your orgasm?” he asked, and she laughed, pointed between them and said, “No, this.”

“Funny, I was just thinking it was taking a long time.”

“You’re better than a pain pill,” she told him in response.

“I’ll have that put on my business cards.”

Tour Stop + Giveaway: Resisting the Bad Boy by Violet Duke

Resisting The Bad Boy
Nice Girls to Love 1
Violet Duke
Contemporary Romance
Abby Bartlett is the quintessential nice girl. Between teaching, volunteering, completing her PhD, and helping her best friend raise his daughter, Abby never gets the chance to be anything but nice. That is, until the all-wrong-for-her man she’s only ever known from afar starts daring her to simply take that chance for herself. His sage advice? Try something wild and fast.

Preferably him.

An unbridled, hotshot attorney with a not-so-little black book, Connor Sullivan has earned himself quite the bad boy reputation. But in his defense, he’s a very conscientious one. He knows far too well that sometimes in life, love isn’t enough…or worse, not even a factor at all. To avoid that misery—and repel the drama—Connor always makes his one and only rule crystal clear right from the start. Absolutely nothing more than a month.

Turns out, a whole lot can happen in one month.

“Why you little—”

Connor launched at Abby as she shrieked out in laughter and tried ducking around him to make for the door. Snatching her around the waist, he hoisted her cackling body over his shoulder and upended her back onto the bed. “You set me up.”

Now unliddable, her giggles effervesced, giving zero credence to her perfectly scandalized denials. He trapped her under him and buried his grin against the curve of her neck, feeling disproportionately victorious at the gasp she couldn’t contain when he skimmed his lips over her collarbone.

The woman was getting to him. This time, when his lips found her soft skin again, it was with purpose. “You planted that wicked little bag-o-fun there for me to find, admit it.”

She gave an Oscar-worthy gasp at the accusation. “What? What possible reason would I have had to do that?”

“To drive me up the wall? Send me bursting through my zipper?” He nipped at her earlobe playfully. “Though I guess I should be flattered to be the reason you bought all that stuff.”

The cutest derisive snort he’d ever heard shot out of her like a torpedo with impeccable aim. “Breaking news, Connor: scientists have in fact discovered that the earth doesn’t revolve around you. Women buy toys for themselves all the time.”

He nearly bit off his tongue to avoid even thinking about Abby having any sort of toy-based fun. “I still call foul. When you and I agreed to this who’ll-beg-first stint, you didn’t say you’d be weaponizing your attacks.”

“Weapons?” She blinked innocently. “You make them sound so sinister. I’d say they’re more like…private tools. Survival tools, if you will. For my time here. Naturally, you were never meant to see them.”

“Bull. Next, you’ll tell me the snowflake masquerading as underwear in that bag is worn strictly for comfort. Hell, I’ve seen more fabric on the teeny doilies in Skylar’s toy tea sets—”

“Aw, I remember those,” she cut in softly with a smile. “She used to go on and on about how her ‘bestest Uncle Connor’ hosted the fanciest dress-up tea parties.”

“I wore suits,” he clarified gruffly, “and don’t change the subject. Why buy sexy lingerie if not to have them be seen?”

By me. He didn’t have to say it out loud, they were both thinking it. And his ego was celebrating it.

“Easy access,” she eventually answered, straight-faced.

His imagination went nuts. Picturing Abby wearing the microscopic scrap of white lace he saw earlier for private ‘easy access’ unhinged him. He shackled her wrists above her head with one hand and began tickling her ribs. “Another foul.”

“Stop!” she screeched and dissolved into a breathless puddle of mirth. “Okay, I admit it! It was a dirty, dirty foul on my part. You should definitely take a free throw shot.”

He paused, wondering where she was going with this.

She pointed to the trash can. “There’s the basket; my new panties can be the ball…since yours are clearly in a twist.”

Incredulous, he dialed up the tickle torture to merciless.

Her squealing ‘I-take-it-backs’ became unintelligible as she wriggled and squirmed and bucked until soon, he was fairly certain he was suffering more than she was.

Breathing hard, he released her wrists and rolled onto his back beside her. “You’re planning to drive me completely crazy these next few weeks, aren’t you?”

Limbs all akimbo, head dangling off the bed, she heaved between breaths, “Like you wouldn’t believe.”
