Writer Wrangler + Giveaway: H.M. Ward

After reading her holiday novella, Christmas Kisses, I knew I have to invite her to be part of Crazy, Stupid Love! H.M. Ward might write about semi-juvenile, spontaneous and impulsive characters but she doesn't skimp on sexy! She's here now to talk about her other series, THE ARRANGEMENT.

Braine: Hi Holly! So excited to have you here today! Please tell us something about THE ARRANGEMENT that we won't find in the book blurbs?

H.M. Ward: The spray start car was real! It belonged to my husband when I first met him. He had to spray ether into the engine when it stalled. It was awesome in a real hobo kinda way.

Braine: It's a little ghetto but not hobo. You're fine. LOL What book/s influenced you and your writing the most?

H.M. Ward: Peter Pan. I loved it. It influenced me because I'd only heard the Disney version and didn't realize the original was so dangerous. Life is dangerous. It was a major turning point when I realized that my stories didn't have to be happy to resonate with people.

Braine: Oh, yeah! From experience I respond more to the sad ones than the happy ones. Which line from THE ARRANGEMENT is your favorite?

H.M. Ward: It's not so much a line, as a favorite part - That would be when Avery gets car jacked and chases after it, waiting for the car to stall, so she can get it back.

Braine: If I were the thief, I'd be pissed! Can you describe THE ARRANGEMENT in one word.

H.M. Ward: AWESOME (Can I say that?)

Braine: You most certainly can! Was your own New Adult phase similar to that of your characters?

H.M. Ward: LOL. Yes, although I was married when I was 20 years old, So I was a bit of a freak. But then again, all my characters are a little crazy, so that lines up.

Braine: Crazy is good and I think getting married at 20 is romantic but risky. What is it about THE ARRANGEMENT that readers will find compelling?

H.M. Ward: It's sexy and funny.

Braine: Good combination. Can you share a little trivia with us regarding the conception of your characters?

H.M. Ward: Avery is a bit of a smart mouth. She's had a rough life and been through hell. It shapes her personality, but instead of becoming bitter, she still tries to laugh. Sean is a totally messed up hot guy.

Braine: I think a lot of our Supies will like Sean. What's are you writing next?

H.M. Ward: DAMAGED - A New Adult romance novel.

Braine: Catchy title. What book did you recently purchase?

H.M. Ward: BLACK CITY - YA PNR Dystopian is my favorite genre. I'm an addict.

Braine: I loved that book too! Looking forward to Phoenix! Aside from your books, what other New Adult novel or series do you recommend?

H.M. Ward: I LOVED EASY by Tamara Webber. Damaged characters, wonderful banter, and a happy ending.

Braine: I love HEA's. Thanks for stopping by Holly!

H.M. Ward: Thanks for inviting me! You're awesome!

  9. The Dresden Files are the last that I read for myself. I just read a YA for review called Flight.
Every comment you made in the above review really resonated with me--car breaking down, hellish life, laughing about things, totally messed up hot guy, and not having to offer the reader happiness---I guess we humans are all a bit alike;) Thanks!!
