Tour Stop Review + Giveaway: When Silver Moons Rise by KaSonndra Leigh

Series: Lost Immortals 2
Format: ARC (from KaSonndra)
Release Date: January 20, 2013
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Facing an unstable future, Chela Prizeon leaves Castle Hayne and crosses over to enemy territory in pursuit of Faris--the boy of royal blood who is cursed by a bitter rival. But soon Chela learns that he has been taken deep into the treacherous frozen prisons--a majestic, but deadly place where people enter and are never seen again. To find the boy she loves, Chela must join forces with one of her greatest enemies. And even though she pulls strength from the good in her powers, she finds herself drawn to the dark side's temptation as well.

Narrated from both Chela's and Faris's point of view, this enchanting sequel to When Copper Suns Fall will take them on a voyage into unknown lands, where the dark, twisted, and revengeful wait to make this their most dangerous journey ever.

Please Note: This book contains mature content including profanity, drug/alcohol use, and sexual situations/language.
When I read When Copper Suns Fall last year I was so blown away by the world building, the mythology and KaSonndra Leigh's prose overall, I jumped at the chance to join the tour and be one of the first few people to read the second novel in her fantastic Dystopian series, Lost Immortals, WHEN SILVER MOONS RISE
I'm the champion, an angel-blood, and not just some girl with mutated genes.
There are a lot of great scenes in the novel but my favorite was Jalen and Desi's banter. They don't know it yet but obviously they're into each other. All that tension hidden behind sarcastic banter was both funny and cute. I might be reading the signals wrong but just in case, these two will be good for each other. Chela for her part took a back seat in this primarily because her "story" was told in When Copper Suns Fall. I feel in a way she was more of an accessory, though an important one, what with saving Faris from Olivia and being instrumental in Seth's redemption. I must say though that I don't understand why she's still second guessing herself and what she could do. She's no ordinary human and I wished she demonstrated her powers more and embraced it than try to doubt her abilities and what she can do.

WHEN SILVER MOONS RISE is Faris' story although Seth stole the show whom I really hated Seth in When Copper Suns Fall. Then for some reason he got a sprinkling of humanity and BAM! I started liking the dude. What is it with bad boys that are so hard to resist?! By sheer coincidence or planned timing, he's saved Chela numerous times and by extension, Faris, too. Seth showed us his softer side and I was instant mush, my opinion about him changed completely especially after Faris' flashbacks. First off he's a bastard, the son of an archangel's and a witch, then someone kills his mother, he gets to live with his father's family but was then banished. He might have turned extreme at some point but I think he's on his way to making amends. Will he be successful? That I can't wait to see. Faris was imprisoned for most of the story so aside from his flashbacks the only interesting thing about his storyline is his jilted ex-fiancee, Olivia. That girl is serpentine and a witch through and through. I felt he was wishy-washy too, here's Chela professing her love for him, risking her ass to save him and yet he rebuffs her?! If he goes down this road Chela will be easy-pickings for Seth now that they've bonded in more ways than one.

I loved WHEN SILVER MOONS RISES. Bardonia is alive and vivid there are still a lot more characters, factions, places that is yet to be told and I'm anxious to discover all of them. The issue with the Caduceans, Tainteds and the Outcasts is getting more intriguing, lines are starting to blur, alliances are crumbling and new ones are being formed. Secrets are being revealed and I can't wait to see where KLeigh will take us next.

And to all the naysayers who didn't like book 1, When Copper Suns Fall, you might want to give this series another chance. Sure it reminded most of us of the great Hunger Games but doesn't most post-apocalyptic/Dystopian books do too? The platform might be similar but let me assure you, KLeigh made something really unique with this one and if anything, the direction of the story took a turn to really cool fantasy territory. Lost Immortals has everything YA fantasy lovers want to read: it has a crazy controlling dictatorship going on for it, government conspiracies, teens with crazy ass superpowers, friendship, loyalty, romance and a moral dilemma that will get you real invested in the story and its characters. After finishing WHEN SILVER MOONS RISE I'm dumbfounded as to why a lot of people haven't read or started the series yet. Get familiar because y'all are missing out on something really great here.

I live in the City of Alchemy and Medicine, North Carolina. I write about people doing fantastical things in magical worlds. Sometimes they fall for each other and make sacrifices for their friends. Oh, and sometimes they love music and nature too. I live with my two sons,a guinea pig, a cat, and two dogs. Now that I have completed my MFA in creative writing, I find that I have a little extra time to play CLUE more often. I live in an L-shaped house dedicated to my grandmother. It has a secret library complete with fairies, venetian plastered walls, and a desk made out of clear blue glass.

The Lost Immortals: When Copper Suns Fall is my debut novel.
