Bought, Borrowed and Bagged #25

BB&B (Bought, Borrowed and Bagged) is a weekly meme, inspired my The Story Siren and Pop Culture Junkie, where we share with you the books that we have bought, borrowed or bagged (won) plus a recap of the previous week's reviews, upcoming reviews, on going events and any news we want to share with our followers.

Big & Small
In case you haven't heard yet, Shailene Woodley (Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Descendants) is going to play Beatrice "Tris" Prior in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth's Divergent series set for release in 2014. I'm unsure of this casting pick but if Jennifer Lawrence can pull off playing scrawny Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, then probably Shailene can do too. I've seen a couple of episodes of her ABC Family show and I think she can pull off playing Tris as far as the attitude is concerned. I guess we'll just have to wait and see - Braine

This Christmas season one of my favorite Broadway plays is making it's way to the big screen and I can't hardly wait. Les Miserables boasts a stellar cast (Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter), and as always the score is magnificent. I remember reading Les Miserables in high school and not totally getting the hype but as soon as I saw the musical live on stage it totally blew me away. Just watching this trailer gives me chills and I promise you now that I'll probably be singing along with Eponine once she starts belting out On My Own - Cimmaron

  3. I want to see Les Miserables, too. I saw one of those pre-movie commercials where they talk about how the film was made and it looks incredible. I've actually never seen Les Miz (my husband thinks that's a travesty) so this will be my first time seeing it.

    1. The cast and grandeur scale of the film is making me so excited to see it. I've seen different film versions of this story but nothing compares to seeing it live on stage. I've only been fortunate enough to see it live once and I would love to see it again.

  4. Yayyyy for Where We Belong!! I'm such an Emily Giffin fan. I still haven't read it, but of course I had to buy it the day it came out. It's still sitting there on my shelf... just staring at me... begging me to read it. Soon, I promise!! :)

  6. I loved Shailene Woodley's acting in The Descendants. Will she make a great Tris? I think that she'll make a great job of it as the role she played in The Descendants was a conflicted character, which is one of the main building blocks of Tris's personality in that she is a Divergent.

As for the books, admittedly they're not to my taste by first impressions, but well done on the scooping the Amazon deals. I love checking them out on the UK site.

    Happy reading!!!

    1. Crank is good, to the point even if it's written on verse. It's heartbreaking actually seeing a girl get caught up in all that darkness without any real reason. She tried Crank and she just got addicted.
