This Week's Question
What is the best cover of a book that you’ve read and didn’t like?
Answer: Lauren Kate's Fallen is one of the first book that started the trend of girls wearing ball gowns but with a Gothic feel to it. I LOVED this trend, I found it very attractive and like most of you, I was weak and picked up the series because of the catchy title and cover.
Unfortunately the story wasn't up to my liking, I didn't find Luce a strong heroine and the love triangle was weak and truly annoying.

This is actually funny. I picked this series as well! Great minds ya know.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read this and have been taking my time getting around to it because of some mixed reviews. My cousins said that the first book wasn't bad, but they weren't too crazy about the series after that.

That is a great cover, too bad about the story! I also have a weakness for those covers with girls in gorgeous dresses on them. They usually don't have anything to do with the story, but they look pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog, I'm a new follower of yours as well!
My FF post
I love the covers for the entire series- still need to read the last book though before I make a decision on how much I really like the series as a whole! Old GFC Follower but new Networked Blogs follower!

I've been trying to decide if I want to read this or not. I keep hearing such mixed things about it that I can't decide.

It's not my place to say, but I'd advise you to not read it. Trust me. Spare yourself the pain, and don't get lured in by the cover. It's like Twilight, except...
DeleteWorse. But if you like Twilight, yay!
XOXO Kim the Snuggle Bee
Hahahaha @Snugglemybooks. Luce is as annoying as Bella and Cam is obviously the better choice than Daniel.
DeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I love this cover. I have not read the book yet though.

This was a DNF of mine. I couldn't get into the story at all, but I will admit, one of the reasons I picked the book up was because of the pretty cover. I hate when they mislead me!!

I've always been fascinated by the cover of Fallen! It's so dark and alluring.

YES! 'Fallen' has an amazing cover! When I saw this at my friends house I was immediately drawn to it. Though she wouldn't let me borrow it because she was currently reading the book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :) New follower right here.
I kind of keep repeating this answer, but it is true for this series. I loved the cover, read the summary, bought the book. Then I started the book and could never get past the first chapter or two. It wasn't awful, but it didn't grab me and make me want to read it. And considering that it's a series and that I tend to force myself to finish series if I finish the first books...I just couldn't make myself finish the book. And then feel obligated to read a series I may be lukewarm about.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my FF. Following you through GFC.
Haha! I remember Fallen! Such a complicated read for me. But Boy do I love their covers! They are stunning! :)
ReplyDeleteI keep on seeing Fallen during this week's Follow... I guess the book really is that bad despite the gorgeous cover. *sigh*

Old follower, I have to say I love the cover and the story but I've found that this book is hit or miss, you either love it or not, thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteThis series has shown up a few times in this weeks follow. It is a lovely cover though.

Ugh. Such a shame. Luce was Bella's long-lost sister, I'm sure of it.

Bwahahaha! They probably are, they're making this into a movie too I heard!
DeleteI've seen this cover already this morning, doesn't make me want to rush out and read it. Thanks for stopping by, old follower
ReplyDeleteI have been going back and forth of reading this. I do like the cover.
ReplyDeleteI agree on everything you said :) Nice cover, but the inside wasn't that good.

I love that cover! I'm not a huge fan of the book, but I didn't hate it. I haven't read the rest in the series though.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that book.

I actually got this book from the used book store but haven't read it yet. I came into the YA scene late so I saw a lot of the ball gown covers. At first they were impressive but now I'm just like same old same old. I might read this book eventually.
ReplyDeleteIf I did FF this week I would have picked this too. I loved that cover. I am a sucker for these kinda covers. Plus so many people where saying how good it was. But man I just did not at all like this story. I didn't even bother to read any of the other books. Just was not my thing. But I still love the cover.
ReplyDeleteI liked Fallen.. not really my favorite though. I love this cover, as well. I hated Passion's cover though.. ugh ! Haha (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF <3

I loved the cover to this book as well.. it was actually this book that got me back into reading in 2010 >.< *sigh* definitely false advertisement -_- lol
ReplyDeleteFallen got me too! I remember seeing it at the store and was like "Oh wow this looks great!" it was my first DNF that year..lolz..
ReplyDeleteIDK why I could NOT get into it. It reminded me of a movie (I think it had the SAME name)starring Stefan from The Vampire Diaries.
I swear it was nearly identical.
I liked the movie better.
Have a great weekend <3

I totally agree with you on this one! These covers were gorgeous, but yeah, the story? Not so much!

Oh my gosh YES. The cover of Fallen is definitely what made me want to read it, but the actual story was just....no. I couldn't even bring myself to pick up the sequel!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and I'm following back :)
I love the Fallen cover. I did enjoy the book as well! I hate to say "it gets better as it goes along" but that's the truth. I understand you not continuing the read though. :)
