The story behind the name Braine
Braine is short for Brainfreeze, my former Y! chat handle that I've had for over a decade now. I met a lot of wonderful people under this alias still remain in contact with most of them after all these years. Some of my best buds are people that used to be my chat mates so I was hoping that by using a version of this nick, I'll be once again blessed with wonderful people that I can eventually call my friends one day.

Do you remember the book that got you into the habit of reading?
Sweet Valley by Francine Pascal was the first series I immersed myself into, I think I was 10 when my Mom bought me the book. I remember we were even arguing because she thought it was too "mature" for me because of Elizabeth & Jessica's boy-craziness but I managed to persuade her. I still have fond memories of Todd :D and that kick started my love for reading.

What books are most memorable to you and why?
There are a lot! The ones with the most value to me are The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery and The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. These books inspired me to no end and until now these are the ones I pick up when I'm feeling down. Then there's Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom, this was my companion novel when my mom was dying of cancer, it helped me cope and put the idea of death and dying into perspective.

Which series do you want to read yourself into and who/what will you be?
I generally want to read myself into every freaking book that lands on my lap just to get that first hand experience. But if I were to narrow it down to three I think I'd like to be a wizard in Hogwarts, an Elf in Lord of the Rings and an Aes Sedai in Wheel of Time.

If you could be any heroine, who would you be?
I want to be either MacKayla Lane or Sookie Stackhouse and not just for their envy worthy romantic relationships but because they are wicked heroines! Mac is a survivor and I think it'll be fun to read minds.

Guilty pleasures?
Aside from my Real Housewives and book addiction I also have an insatiable sweet tooth. And though I get teased a lot by Cimmaron because of my YA reads, I go above an beyond the usual Mommy porn on my private time. I'll leave it at that ;)

What book/movie are you looking forward to the most?
I am really excited to see KMM's Fever series adapted just so I can see JZB and V'Lane/Cruce in real life.

Which author (alive or dead) do you want to meet and what will you ask him/her?
  • Bram Stoker to get his opinion about the sparkling vampires and the current vampire trend.
  • Anne Rice and just have a conversation with her about New Orleans, gay rights and organized religion. She's my favorite author of all time!
  • William Shakespeare and finally solve the mystery if he's real or if the name is just someone's pseudonym

  1. Hey ladies! Happy Blogiversary! <3

  2. HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY!!! What a great accomplishment! Congrats!

  3. Happy Blogoversary to us! Love You Mama!

  4. Hi Ladies & Happy Blogoversary!...Nice to put a face with the name Briane ;)

  5. Happy Blogoversary ladies!! BTW, loved "The Alchemist" :)

  6. Oh! I remember Sweet Valley. :D I absolutely loved them too and they were some of the first ones I that really got me into reading too. I love that both of you mentioned Mac as a heroine to be; that's cool! Although she is kind of awesome. I've only read two of the Sookie books, but I love Eric already. ;) Heheh. Just ordered the TV series box!

  7. Happy Blogoversary, Brain!

I wish I had TUESDAY WITH MORRIE when my own mother was dying with cancer. I'm glad it helped you during that dark time.

It was great finally having a face to go with the names, the real names this time! :-) I look like Michael Fassbender ... at least that's what my female co-workers say when they want to borrow money!

You've gotten me to want to read THE ALCHEMIST. I'm hoping one day I will have affected one reader to want to live in my fictional French Quarter and pal around with the assorted characters who prowl the night.

May this season of TRUE BLOOD be everything you wish it to be, Roland

    1. I remember crying on my daily train commute while reading TWM. But you have to read The Alchemist too, his metaphors are beautiful and the story very inspiring.

Maybe you DO loom like Fassy! LOL

As for TB, I want to be surprised. I wish they brought Quinn but CMerloni is a good addition to the cast.

Thanks Roland, The Fench Quarter is on my bucket list, for me that has got to be one of the most romantic and magical place ever. Someday I'll visit NO.

  8. Oh Braine!!

Just so you know when I talk to Cimmaron on the D'L I always refer to you as Frankie I love that name for you, however for blogging Braine is fun and sassy!! Love it too! You know I knew you had children because the mommy van gave you away LOL, however I cannot believe you have a 16 year old daughter!! Amazing, I would have never known, maybe you are the kinky one of the bunch here. Cimmaron and I are always talking about it so maybe it's true the one that never talks about sex is the one getting it. So you know I love referring to you as the naughty librarian but does your daughter know that you are president of the national library association and after hours you let your hair down and do non educational things with that librarian status?? Don't worry I'll keep your secret safe!!;) I was telling Cimmaron on her post how much I love you girls!! I'm excited to finally meet you guys at AAD next year!!! Who knows there may be a Christian Grey sighting in Seattle and I might see Cimmaron when I fly there to bail her out of jail for stalking......or maybe Gideon will stop over in Nashville and you'll have to bail me out for stalking too. It's so sad!! LOL. Anyways just read Cimmaron's post Because I replied to hers first!!! So excited I met you too!!! XO <3

    1. Oh Vain you never fail to make me crack up! I have a son so he mostly stays out of my way. And yes you read me right, I am the naughty/kinky librarian but I like to keep it in the DL to keep up appearances. LOL

I'm glad to have met you too Vain! XOXO
