When she’s sent to a crime scene and finds her second dead woman in as many weeks, half-banshee detective Kiera “Mac” McLoughlin is convinced a serial killer is on the loose. Incubi are extinct, her boss insists. But what else can kill a woman in the throes of pleasure? When her partner is murdered after using witchcraft to locate the killer and Mac is thrown off the case, her frustration turns to desperation.

Certain the killer is an incubus, Mac works behind her department’s back to chase down slim, sometimes perilous leads. While the killer eludes her, she does discover handsome Aidan Byrne, an investigative counterpart from the enigmatic Otherworlder Enforcement Agency. Mac typically runs her investigations fast and hard, but with Aidan at her side, she’s running this one “hot” as well. But Aidan knows more than he’s letting on—something that could shatter their blazing romance and add Mac to the killer’s growing body count.
I've read this novella a while back and I no longer remember why I haven't written up a review about it, I guess this fell through the cracks of book blogging. Well better late than never because the next book, Succubus Lost, is already out and I just have to share all the love I have about this series and hopefully I can convince you to pick it up as well.

This novella is about a Banshee and an Incubi and if you ask me this is a good break from all the vampires, weres and fae that's flying around. Kiera "Mac" McLaughlin is considered a freak amongst monsters, though she's only half Banshee, her ability scares the heck out of other Otherworlders which makes her both a weapon and a threat to them. So it's no surprise that our lovely heroine has close to zero love life and would just busy herself with OWEA cases.
I can't make anyone fall in love with me. Truly loving someone, caring about them, that can't be manufactured by my powers or anyone else's - Aidan
Enter Aidan Byrne, a tall, dark, handsome, blue-eyed, cocky agent sent to help Mac solve a series of murders whom they suspect is a victim of a rogue Incubi, a creature whom OWEA believes no longer exist as their record shows that Incubus have been extinct for over a hundred years. He stirs up a dangerous combination of longing and attraction from Mac but he's hiding too many secrets that might hurt our heroine, both physically and emotionally, in the end.

This 159 paged story was not only entertaining but steamy and mysterious as well. Towards the last 20 pages of the story I was caught in a crazy whodunnit suspense/murder mystery and part of me was feeling sad that our heroine, Mac, might not get her much deserved happy ending. Tiffany Allee really threw me for a loop with this one and I loved it! Mac is a wonderful heroine to read about, she's tenacious and she deals with prejudice gracefully as not everyone is thrilled to have a Banshee in their presence, after all she can kill you with a single scream. As for Aidan, well I'll leave that mystery up to you, suffice to say he is sexy as Danger.
