In search of Kayla and on the run, Kiera and her friends make a race against time across the Cumbria Mountains. With the vampires predicting their every move, the trust amongst Kiera and her friends starts to fade.

From the desolate monastery set high between the mountains, the mysterious lake and the caves beneath the fountain, Kiera must discover the connection between the vampires and her mother, Isidor and Kayla, and resolve her inner feelings for Potter and Luke.

Kiera herself has started to change and this frightens her. So turning to her friends for help, she realises that it is only her mother who can provide the truth. But Kiera has other questions that she needs to have answered. Why did Isidor murder an innocent girl? Who is the person that Murphy has been meeting in secret? But above all, why have they put their lives and trust in the hands of a serial killer?
I am having a hoppy Easter because Tim O'Rourke just dropped us a line! Don't you just love waking up to an email from someone you admire acknowledging your thoughts? Thank you Mr. O'Rourke for making my day!

So let me start off by explaining why I gave this 4 instead of 5 cauldrons. Because one of my favorite characters just died in the most gruesome way, sob! Michelle was right, it's so hard to talk about something you love in a vague manner and still sound convincing without giving away anything. I'm sorry but this will have to do, this series is so good I don't want to spoil anything.
Nothing will be the same for you, Kiera, after you see what's in the forbidden wing.-Potter in Vampire Wake
Potter was right when he warned Kiera because what followed shattered Kiera's beliefs and everything else she held dear in her life. Now they are fugitives and on the Most Wanted list, hopping from one town to another in search of Kayla while being attacked by Vampyrus and Vampires along the way.

But what's most startling is that Kiera's mother, newly appointed Superintendent Jessica Reeves who disappeared three years ago, resurfaced and is now in charge of hunting her own daughter. If you were Kiera, how would you feel? Your mission for three years and the reason you became a Constable is now complete but under the most distressing circumstance? How does one even begin to process that news? Let me say that Kiera handled that superbly but she's in for a terrible heartbreak. Mine did when the meeting finally happened between them.
All the female Lycanthrope have hair under the tongues!
If there's a Vampire, a Werewolf is not far behind. But Tim's Werewolves are sinister, disgusting and untrustworthy. I don't know what role these rabid dogs are going to play but so far it's not looking good.  Kiera and her band of misfits have become a very expensive bargaining chip between the Vampyrus and the Lycanthrope but as the latter are shifty (no pun intended), I am hoping that they will sway in Kiera's favor. I'm a fan of Weres and I hope they won't fail me this time.
I'm not here to be jerked-off by you and the bast of One-Hundred-And-One-Dalmatians.
Oh Potter! At first I was annoyed by you but now you're starting to grown on Kiera and myself. Yes you're bad news with your bloodlust, violent tendencies, sarcastic remarks and smoking habit. But that same uncouthness is starting to become endearing. I know it's twisted but you know how bad boys are, they make bad look good and Potter isn't any different.
Oh for God's sake! Why did they have to go and use that picture? Of all the pictures they could have shown on T.V. why they have to go and use that one? I look like a pervert!
Bless your heart Potter.

  2. Braine!! The thing with Tim's writing is he doesn't hold back on his characters and what he does to them. Yes, it was soooo sad and it still is sad for me with what you are talking about in your review. I love that he is brave enough to do things to his characters, good or bad things and sometimes it may not make sense at the time, but........

Hence , why I could be emailling Tim, yelling at him...ha!!! Like TIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was kind of a standard..hehe!! I love that his writing is quirky, and his charactes do stand out....oh Potter is growing on you, yay!!! I adore Potter, he just isn't your average characters.....the onion has layers:D

Wonderful review!! I am so excited I get to release , while being discreat, ha! When somebody else I know is reading them. I have had to keep it bottled.

It is quite a unique series, just different and I KNOW how much fun Tim has with it and he loves hearing readers reactions. Oh, bless, what you have instore for you coming up..hehe!!! mwah..ha...ha..haaaaa!! So not said in an evil ..well mwah..ha..ha..haaaaa!! Said with an Aussie accent, doesn't really sound evil at all:D

    YAY!! for Braine!!

    1. Yes! I have said it countless times: i admire writers who are not afraid to gut their cast. I wanted to say more but doing so will make me give out spoilers. Thanks for reviewing this, it's worth losing sleep over.

P.S. what chips did you send him? I need to get those, it might inspire me to write something terrific too. Xoxo

    2. Oh some spesh Aussie flaves, ready for this...they were limited edition...Meat Pie and sauce..hehe!! Strangely they were wierdly delish and also Vegemite..yup!! They made a vegemite flave chip..ha!
