Zoey Redbird is the youngest High Priestess in House of Night history and is the only person—vamp or fledgling—that can stop the evil Neferet from raising all kinds of immortal trouble. And she might just have a chance if she wasn’t so busy being dead.Well, dead is too strong a word. Stevie Rae knows she can bring her BFF back from her unscheduled va-cay in the Otherworld. But it’s going to take a lot more than hoping to bring Zoey back. Stevie Rae will have to give up a few secrets of her own.

I have a bad feeling that this series is going downhill. This is sometimes the problem when a story gets too long, it loses steam and the story arcs just get muddled. Burned is the seventh book of the HON series and though there are some changes in the POV, it still failed to recapture my enthusiasm.

So here's what, I feel that the voices of the men are becoming too feminine and they're slowly becoming too emotional sensitive to situations and comments. For example, Erik Night, he's handsome but again his storyline is squiggly. He plays the I-love-Zoey-I-love-Zoey-not when it's convenient for the story to dispatch him. Which, once again, confuses me because I don't know whether or not the Casts want me to like him to nail him to the cross? Then when finally Zoey does break it off with him, out of nowhere Aphrodite comes up with this background of how possessive he is. Yeah, very convincing.

Heath Luck. Personally, and I'd like to stress this, the Casts wants us to love Heath but it's a little difficult to do that because he appears to be this lovestoned idjit who'd rather be cheated on than to lose Zoey. I have yet to meet a guy, who are territorial by nature, who will willingly agree to this. I get the Imprint and the first love part but for the life of me I just don't find this consistent. Heath is just a doormat passing off as a hero.

Even Kalona and Rephaim, supposedly creatures of Darkness that made men tremble, lost their balls against Neferet, Zoey and Stevie Rae! I applaud them for writing strong women but, Goddess have mercy, at least make the quality of the men equal with these formidable women!

And Zoey, I don't know if it's vanity but at least try to stick to just one guy, my Goddess!

Aphrodite is the only saving grace of this series. Her lines crack me up and I think she should get her own series. She's becoming more interesting than Zoey.

  1. hehe!! Burned is actually the book I liked the best. I said Ethan I think earlier in a comment on one of the other posts , I meant Erik, I just could not fathom what the ladies were trying to do with him?? I know these books are best sellers, I know I am not..haha!! But I do get all ???? when it comes to the storyline and it was repetitive with the circle and candles and spell and ..and..and..and.... I loved Stevie Rae and her side story....I got lost with Zoey and what the ladies were writing her character as, with all the lads and ????? This series has moments that are great and moments that you go ????
Again , maybe it is me??

I was addicted to reading it at one stage as I just needed to know this best seller series , what wasn't I getting. I am so happy so many love the series. I didn't dislike it, I just got a bit frustrated sometimes with it :D

    1. It's all good. I just didn't like the direction it was going, it's becoming clique-y and didn't add up in the great scheme of things. Erik's character development was confusing to me, like they didn't know what to do with him and I don't think Zoey is all that to have all these guys fall like flies on her feet. I know this is fantasy but come on! Keep it a little real! :D
