I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And Two, I was born to kill them.
Do you ever feel like you've been waiting your entire life for a specific moment when it'll all make sense? Or like you're right on the edge of it all making sense, but you know you don't have all the pieces yet?- Tara Godfrey
That quote is exactly what would best describe this book if not the series. Tara is a Hunter whose duty to humanity is keep Werewolves in check. But too much about Tara's identity is foggy because being a Hunter is not something you become, it's ingrained in one's DNA and that lifestyle is far from what her current, pampered life is. This has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of weeks now after I won this from the Amber's blogversary giveaway a month ago. The only thing I know is that this is a story about Werewolves and after reading a series of books about Vampires, I finally decided to crack it open and clean my palate from all the sensual blood sucking.

I wasn't expecting anything but I was hoping that it'll be an easy read. It wasn't just easy, it was EXCITING.

Personally when one mentions Hunters, Supernatural instantly comes to mind for me. That TV show glamorized their monster-hunting occupation so that alone got me psyched. Next the conflict presented by HHildenbrand may be something that you've read once or twice before but she put a different spin on things and made it her own.

I love my stories to make sense even if it's written on the premise of fantasy because logic and rationale is standard regardless of your kind. Even if the laws are different one's reaction still follows a certain flowchart and not fall erratically between the cracks. On this note I love Tara, she asks the right questions and takes everything with a grain of salt, she doubts and relishes her journey towards enlightenment. Which is the normal reaction if you are in the precipice of something life changing. Wes, her Werewolf love interest, is interesting too, not only does he drive a badass Aston Martin but he's hunky and a capable consort for Tara. His history, DNA, destiny and relationship with Tara is intriguing. Is he really into her or does it have something to do with the prophecy?

But who I really love is Tara's Grandma! I tweeted HHildenbrand that I'm volunteering myself for adoption LOL. Not only is Tara's Grandma a Hunter but she's the leader of her team, a fearsome opponent, agile for her age and drives a Hummer! Tara got her skills from Grandma.

Now I'm the type of reader who nitpicks on things and I didn't find anything wrong about DIRTY BLOOD. Maybe some readers have noticed something but as far as my reading experience is concerned, if there are any nuisances, it might have been too minute for me to notice.
