Vampire Academy

HA!

Now I have a better understanding on why this series is taking the world by storm, my motives are different though, BEN BARNES. My curiosity got piqued when fans keep on associating Dimitri Belikov with Ben Barnes. So I decided to jump the bandwagon and pick up the series to know what the fuss is about.

Rosemarie Hathaway is my kind of heroine: impulsive, loyal, and can seriously kick your ass if you rub her the wrong way, consequences be damned. She's the type who'd rather apologize than ask for permission. Her friendship with Vasilisa Dragomir is also outstanding, their personalities complement each other and their relationship goes beyond the usual Moroi-Dhampir type. Plus I like that they squabble like normal bestfriends do, there are no underlings in their relationship and they are each other's strength and weakness. Neither are underdogs in this relationship unless you base it on their "status" and both will defend the other to death.

Dimitri Belikov aka Ben Barnes. Aloof. Magnetic. Mysterious. Dark. Noble.

At first I was skeptical about the fan worship this character has been getting but towards the end of the book I had my BAM! moment. It all clicked together. He is the Jericho Barrons of the YA world. He will creep up on you and the next thing you know, he has permeated your reality and you're invested on his love-hate relationship with Rose.

Cimmaron, you HAVE to pick up this series so we can gush about Dimitri Belikov together!

  1. YAY! It took me until book 3 to REALLY see all the fan fair, Dimitri is ...a totally awesome character. Cimmaron , you do need to read VA as Bloodlines spinoff has started. YES he is the Jerricho Barrons of the YA world. Well said!

    1. In Book 3 I tweeted NOOOOO to RMead! Like WTH?! Just when Rose and Dimitri finally accepted their attraction to each other something like that happens with the Strigoi? NOT FAIR! LOL

Anyway, I'm on Tim O'Rourke's Kiera Hudson and I blame YOU, yes YOU Michelle from Down Under, for my current obsession! LMAO! Dang girl, I thought you were exaggerating when you said how good it was, I never expected that Tim will not let me sleep!

Thanks for recommending that book, I LOVE IT and I'm just on the first one ;) XOXO

    2. OK....you guys have twisted my arm. The mention of Jericho Barrons is what sold me. I will put VA in my reading list.

Braine - Is this series going to make me go crazy like I did with EC? You know how much I regret that period in my life. I still get a bitter taste in my mouth just thinking about it. HAHAHA.

  3. YAY Braine is on the Kiera Hudson series....Tim and I often email/talk, I think I am getting my morning UK phone call tomorrow, he is like my little brother, we just get along soooo well. I love how much fun he has with his series. I so want him published, he deserves to be. Potter is a cranky pants but I love him. You don't get much Potter in book 1, but then....hehe!! The things he says. Vampire Hunt is my fave...I got me a little dedication in Vampire Breed. I'm doing something spesh Feb 13th for Tim on blog, he doesn't know what it is, but I have Miss Suzi helping me with something. Tim is just so generous and the sweetest man, so I wanted to say thankyou as I get early reads and he surprises me with little things all the time. I did tell him about you girls and that you were thinking of reading the series. He is selling masses of his series. They are just fun, and gorey and spontaneous, unpredictable reads. He calls me Tiger..hehe! He knows how much I love Potter and his smart mouth. Darn it I am even older than Tim..like seriously is there anybody I aren't older than..when did this happen..ha!

Tim has something spesh with this quirky series and he is rather original with his take on things. That's why I love interviewing him and his characters, he really has fun with you.So hint, hint he is always happy for interviews etc and the more creative the more he is happy to be apart of it.

Oh I miss Dimitri soooo much, but he does make an appearance in The Golden Lily, spinoff series after VA. Come on Cimmaron you can get totally lost in Dimitri, but it did personally take me until book 3. One of my reviews I could hardly say a paragraph I was that upset....

Now if you haven't read Jennifer L Armentrout Half-Blood and Obsidian...she writes Aiden St Delphi...ohhhh my!!! and Daemon....be still my heart!! I have read Pure book 2 in Half-blood - Covenant series...as I won early read and WOW!!! I tell Tim all the time he is on par with Jennifer but totally different stories!!! Half-blood appears to have some VA influence, but I disregard any similar points and look at the story and characters and it is an awesome YA read. Some bloggers kinda get a bit pepped up on some VA similarities but by Pure that is pretty washed away. Sorry Down Under gets a bit passionate sometimes:D

    Um...happy reading girls

  4. You can definitely see your expertise in the paintings you write. The world hopes for even more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.
