Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

Dev and Sam

An Arcadian bearswain and an Amazon Dark-Huntress. That's the love match for the 19th novel in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Hunter series, No Mercy.

After reading Acheron, I'm curious about how the Dark-Hunters can get their souls released from Artemis since the S&M barter was ground to a halt due to Acheron's marriage to Tory. Apparently, my beloved Nick Gaultier is serving as Acheron's sub and is busy being the Maiden of the Hunt's love slave.

In the tradition of Kenyon books, this one is fast paced and acerbic. Although Dev is watered down, appearing funny than corrosive, the banter between the characters is still amusing. I love how their love story played out, they know what they want and they have no qualms going after it. What they didn't expect is that they'll fall in love with each other and end up mated. And even if the ending is a happy one, it doesn't follow the mold of their predecessors, having kids and riding off into the sunset. This couple made an interesting choice and stayed in the middle so they get the best of both of their worlds.

I also liked the reference to Hippolyte and how they retrieved her mythical girdle, Sam being an Amazon Queen herself and Hippolyte's granddaughter. In my Brief, I mentioned the absence of Apollo in this mess that he sired, in No Mercy, we get to glimpse the limitations of this seemingly all powerful Sun God and why he can't undo his curse. This also sent shock waves to Stryker because he is bent on destroying his father only to find out that the only way to do so is to sacrifice himself. Talk about Drama!

So Retribution, the latest Dark-Hunter novel just came out and so far the reviews are raving about it. We shall see...
